New Messenger Windows App!! Dark MODE ?

Messenger (beta) on the Windows Store was just updated. The old Windows Store app was lacking quite a few features. Now, it's much better. Looks similar to the Messenger Web App except it uses a 3 dot button the top right instead of the information button. Small news here but I thought it was interesting enough to share.

It would be cool if they added translucency/Fluent Design like they showed off in the original screenshots

It really should not take them long. macOS now has the ability to essentially port iPhone apps. The transition is so easy a single dev can maintain the app.

At second glance the app accesses wayy more on the pc than what it should need to operate.

Like what? I would expect it to want to access contacts, location data, photos, videos, and regular files for attachments. It should also want camera and mic access for its calling functionality. What else is there that the app wants?

That's not what messenger is. If thats all you want, use SMS

it would still need access to contacts and storage no matter what

I just downloaded it. It looks cool, but... is there no way to see what time you sent/received each message? Like on the web app when you hover over a message?

Still technically tech news. Is it even possible for me to move or delete it?

No it does. Just hover the cursor over it for a second.

3 things I found it doesn't do is "search in conversation", go the their facebook profile, and I guess no secret conversations.
