HDMI to VGA Adapter

Ed96win

Hey there. this more of a question instead of a problem.

I have a HDMI to USB Adapter so I can connect my RX580 to my monitor which has no other ports. the Adapter has an audio jack and a micro usb port.

I can use both video and the audio without connecting the micro usb. my question is: what is that micro usb port for?

The micro USB port might be there for some active conversion. I don't know what it does on your adapter though, you didn't mention a product name.

Why are you using an old monitor with an RX580? You could've almost buy a new monitor for the price of the adapter...

It's a cheap chinese (P-NET) adapter without any sort of branding on it..

my question is that if it delievers both video and audio without that Micro USB being connected to anywhere, what's the point of having it there?

Maybe some old HDMI ports don't have enough power through it .. that's my theory.
