After all, no one is lying about this serious matter. And don't forget that Hentai is VERY relaxing entertainment.

General web stuff, email, some YouTube watching, usually when my wife has commandeered the living room smart TV and it's my main music storage space, via iTunes.

Nah, I got a burner laptop for that (plus I use OneDrive in case I want to use my gaming rig or phone or something).

Folding, video editing, and general dicking around with stuff I don't understand.

Who the hell watches porn on their gaming/work PC? Personally I've never experienced the appeal, especially when there is  such a thing as a smartphone.

For those of you with dedicated gaming PC rigs, what do you do on them other than gaming?

Odd question.

It's a PC purpose built for gaming but I do everything on it.  Work, surf, shop, porn, stream, watch videos, listen to music, etc.

It's like having a sports car, you still drive to work and the grocery store and go on dates in it.

I doubt anyone has a gaming PC that they don't use for anything else, purely gaming.

its not specifically a gaming rig to me

i got my mainrig (in my signature) and then under that ultawide i got a surface 3 pro with a 15.6" display hooked up as secondary screen. the later is always running cause its running my nas, and server needs.

so basically one "low" performance system and one "high" performance system. like changing gears depending on how much power i need.

so for example discord runs on the surface (im basically online 24/7 :D) and on the main rig i do gaming, 3d modeling and slicing, photoshoping, programming, and whatever else that takes a bit more performance. and the surface does NAS stuff, discord, host my magic mirror page, run openHAB for my home automation stuff, downloads that take up time, monitoring 3d prints, managing my security cameras, and whatever else that is low performance but reacouring task.

to make it usable i hooked up my peripherals to the surface and use synergy to share them with the main rig if its booted up.

the amount of shit i got from "hardcore" gamers for that :D i got a wireless mouse forwarded through network. but honestly after making sure both systems are hooked up through ethernet cable i cant even tell the difference

"You know it'll clock down as soon as it hits 40°C, right?" - "Yeah ... but it doesnt hit 40°C ... ever  😄"

I built my gaming pc 5-6 years ago and was all gung ho about playing tripple A titles. After going to school for 4 years the majority of what I do is just watch YouTube and Netflix, play some SC2 and league of legends. I just find I don't have the patience to play long video games anymore, maybe I am just burned out.

A combination of a few things:

  1. University Work - This is a big one. A lot of spreadsheets. A lot of reading notes. A lot of downloading tutorial questions.
  2. Committee Stuff - I'm on 2 committees at University. I'm the treasurer for my hall committee which means I spend a lot of time doing accounts, ordering stuff, and booking stuff for events (or paying for stuff other people book). I'm also the Publicity Rep for my uni's Scottish Country Dance Society so that means creating a lot of Facebook events, and sending emails inviting people.
  3. Generally consuming content - I'm a Uni student so I don't have a TV (and I wouldn't be able to afford a TV license anyway) which means most of my Netflix, YouTube, Floatplane content is consumed through my PC. Also my best speakers are connected to my TV as well so it's used for music when I'm in my room.
  4. Communicating - I am one of the rare people born this century that can type long messages a lot faster on a keyboard than I can on a touchscreen (even with a swipe keyboard) so I tend to respond to a lot of messages on things like Facebook using my computer as well. I also use Discord on my PC a lot more than on my phone.
