Budget Graphics Card Upgrade Recommendations

robytoberts

Hello!

I've been running my trusty old system in a couple of different set-ups for a couple of years now. She runs pretty well, but I'm wondering if it might be time to upgrade the graphics card as it chugs a bit on some games. Unfortunately as I've not been building systems, I've been out of the loop for a while so have no idea the state of the market for graphics cards at the minute.

My current system:

i5-4460 (3.2GHz, quad core)

8gb ram

GTX 750ti (EVGA ftw edition) 1189/1268MHz, 2gb

1080p monitor

I don't have a big budget at all, so I guess the question I'm trying to ask is: if I buy a new GPU, would I get a meaningful upgrade in gaming performance for less than £200? I don't want to end up spending money to find I've barely made a difference that I'll notice. If there are any cards in this price range that you think would be a worthwhile upgrade to go for, please let me know!

(Although it's pretty old now, I'm assuming the CPU isn't going to be a bottleneck?)

Cheers!

An RX 570 from eBay, can't go wrong

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

I'm not entirely sure how prices are in your area but a new GTX1660 could be doable.

thanks for all the suggestions!

In the end I managed to find a really good deal on a rx590 refurbished on eBay - having some issues with noise levels, but performance-wise it's perfect.

Gtx 980ti ebay

the worst idea I've seen so far :) buying ex-flagship cards with hweege TDP without warranty is like playing russian roulette.

A 2nd hand 1070, new 1660-1650sup would be the most sound solution.

Life is really challenging. I don't always suceed: )
