Would you want cherry mx switches in products other than keyboards?

SuperCookie78

I always thought that cherry mx or just mechanical switches of any brand should be used in other products. The first thing that comes to mind is cars. having mechanical switches instead of those capacitive touch button would be great. Also using them for a case power button would be cool. what do you guys think?

It'd be...interesting...to say the least.

One time I was awake for way too long and started imagining a gaming mouse with Blue Mechanical switches..

That doesn't seem nice.

At school we're working on a hardware-based project in which we have a display unit. I was able to convince my team we should definitely uses mechanical switches (the Gateron Blues I still had lying around) :)

I'm also probably planning on:

- Fitting out my PC with a mechanical keyswitch on/off button

- Creating a calculator with mechanical switches

I wouldn't even want Cherry MX switches in my keyboard. Having good buttons for whatever would be much preferred over those silly capacitive buttons, which cannot be used if e.g. your fingers are wet.

Am I the only one who doesn't mind cherry mx?  XD   I love my ducky shine 7 with silent reds.  I didn't mind the switches in a k70, but my issue with Corsair kbs is that they're a bitch to clean.

I like my MX Blues, I just think seeing those types of switches elsewhere would be weird.

No, because Cherry MX is pretty trash tbh. Kailh or Gateron would be preferable.

cherry mx switches are only designed for keyboards, not other usecases. they produce a lot of switches and relays in the ZF brand, and it's quite common to customise a product for specific scenario.

why everybody post the spec of their rig here? i dont! cuz its made of mashed potatoes!
