What's your dream phone/laptop?

7412

I'll take already existing devices and comment on what I'd like to see improved, creating the perfect device from there.

ONEPLUS 7 PRO

Remove the curved edges. Makes the phone less durable, and the Almond color is so good on that phone, I'd hate to hide that with a case.

Bigger battery. The Zenfone 6 has 5000 mAh, the ASUS ROG II has 6000. More autonomy is always good.

Better camera.

I don't care about headphone jacks and wireless charging, but I guess these would make it objectively better, so why not.

RAZER BLADE

Reasonable pricing.

Get rid of the glowing green logo, like they did on the Blade Stealth.

Better quality control and support.

Bigger battery.

Low end models with GTX 1050 : affordable, very gaming capable still, and more battery life so that they function both as a gaming tool and a proper ultrabook that doesn't need a charge to live through a full day of work/college.

What about you?

Phone librem 5

Why: Fully hackable device which means that i can actually run a shell on it and pretty much do everything on what i want like installing a webserver which will make it a very portable computer and a hand IT troubleshoot tool. Because of the many tools. (Nmap ping tracert nslookup route wireshark you name it) But i first want to see it it takes off a bit. I can work around the issue it might create that i can not run Android apps (Anbox) for the few apps I actually use. Also it has a user replaceable battery. And upgradable in pretty much everything like wireless and blue tooth is a plus. Oh and it has a 3.5mm jack.

ThinkPad X1 Carbon

Why: Got a old thinkpad right now x240 and i simple  love it for the I/O and build quality. I don't like the dongle culture the modern laptops are going. Yes sure even Thinkpad is going this way but it still has plenty compared many others. Also it has a user replaceable battery Oh and it has a 3.5mm jack.

I'll throw my 2 cents in!

iPhone 11 Pro Max

Why: Biggest and best iPhone yet, massive battery life. I personally prefer iOS over Android.

What I'd change: Get rid of the notch, add an under screen fingerprint reader while retaining FaceID. I kind of miss the headphone jack sometimes, but I also don't care but why the hell not. Bring bacc the jacc. Also make the back glass removable like the iPhone 4 and 4s. No reason to adhere it to the frame with such strong adhesive even liquid nitrogen struggles to break it.

Macbook Pro 13" 2019

Why: Less thermal issues than the 15", also find a 13" display more than fine for multitasking on macOS. I personally prefer macOS for everything other than gaming.

What I'd change: Pricing needs to be bumped down a few hundred bucks across the board for Macbooks. Allow the 13" to have even a weak dGPU for hardware acceleration. I personally love the butterfly switch, but given that it's design is flawed in such a way that seems unfixable, bring back the previous scissor switch (2009 Macbook polycarb has the best keyboard I've ever used.). Also include a USB-C to A adapter in the box, even if it's a cheap one.

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)

Wall Of Fame (Informative people/People I like): @Glenwing @DrMacintosh @Schnoz @TempestCatto @LogicalDrm @Dan Castellaneta

I have an iPhone 8 that's been good to me, takes fine photos and does other smartphone things. Had a 5s before that, and a 3GS before that. Everyone in my family gives iTune gift cards out, so I have a ton invested into the platform (music mostly) to switch at this point.

Honestly, I just want a 13" screen laptop of some sort with better than Intel integrated graphics in it. Maybe when the next gen Ryzen mobile stuff comes out... I currently have a 2011 Dell Latitude with a Sandy Bridge mobile i5 that does fine, but outside of Quake II and III, and the original Skyrim, it basically won't do anything gaming-wise. Vega 8 would be OK, but maybe something better is on the horizon.

My Current Setup:

AMD Ryzen 5900X

Kingston HyperX Fury 3200mhz 2x16GB

MSI B450 Gaming Plus

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo

EVGA RTX 3060 Ti XC

Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB

WD 5400RPM 2TB

EVGA G3 750W

Corsair Carbide 300R

Arctic Fans 140mm x4 120mm x 1

I don't have my dream for new phone and laptop.

My old laptop ThinkPad T61p (Core 2 Duo T9500, 4GB RAM, Quadro FX 570M, 120GB SSD, 15" 1920x1200 display) is very enough for my travel. I don't play the game on my laptop, it's for to surf the Internet, to watch YouTube, etc.

But I have my dream laptop : ThinkPad W701ds (Core i7-920XM Extreme Edition 4c/8t, 16GB DDR3, Quadro FX 3800M, 2x SSD RAID, 17" 1920x1200 + 10.6" 768x1280 displays, DisplayPort, Blu-ray drive)

My perfect phone would be a fully functional BlackBerry with GLORIOUS keyboard with fully modern hardware and continued OS support. But give it a metal frame like the older iPhones. As much as I've loved the past 6 years of iPhone, BlackBerry OS was the best.

Well, I have the Key2 and I'm pretty happy with it. It runs Android though.

My dream laptop is a Thinkpad X1 Carbon.  It’s just so sleek and it’s just the shape I want: a symmetrical, smooth machine.

Won’t visit often..
