Anyone else feel that the merch plugs have been excessive since LTX?

 

I get its profitable for them, and I have bought several items.

Mini DSP SHD Studio -> 2x Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC's (fed by AES/EBU, one feeds the left sub and main, the other feeds the right side) -> 2x Neumann KH420 + 2x Neumann KH870

 

(Having a totally seperate DAC for each channel is game changing for sound quality)

Yea they are in itself not that annoying, but they ruin the flow of the video.

Like, ads before the video, fine, intro ad, fine, then during the video blabla WATER BOTTLES blabla.

It's only like 2-3 seconds but it everytime it happens i think "JUST F-OFF WITH YA DAMN BOTTLES, I KNOW YOU HAVE THEM" It's not like they haven't mentioned merch in their outro for YEARS now but whatever i guess.

Yeah the mid video ads do destroy the flow, I agree.

It's not just LTT. Every Youtuber is pushing merch now days because you can make insane money off of it compared to Youtube. In short everything is becoming demonetized so they are just making money else where. Most large Youtubers like PewDiePie and David Dobrick make most of their income from merch and not Youtube

I’m 100% fine with them. They are just running their business as they see fit. People now a days seems to always find something to bitch about but realistically they have an expensive operation with a lot of mouths to feed and if they find the merch mentions in the videos are driving business than keep at it I say

It's funny, they talk how affordable many of those clothes are, but all of the clothes I bought this year cost just a bit more than one swacket .

 

I noticed it too, the frequency seems a bit too high, especially when you can't afford it anyway.

I have noticed it more, done in a "we're working a video that talks more about this, so be sure to etc so you don't miss it"....it's a lot more often, but it's relevant.

 

The march bit in the video today worked fine at the end...

James and Linus have them in ok...i think they're game show host style helps with it.  

 

Alex doing it was awful, and I hope to g-d they don't have Anthony do one. I have always appreciated how they place sponsor spots near the beginning or end of their videos so it doesn't disrupt the content.  The new merch spots mid video dont bother me much as it's still the same host's voice being used and during a planned pause in talking so feels part of the video. 

 

When other YouTubers have random in video ads I find the volume is usually different or it appears mid sentence and just ruins the entire flow of the video for me.

Not too sure which thread to post feedback-

 

Do what you want, it's your business. Product placement or adspots at the start and end of your videos is fine but these little shouts in just about EVERY video now has driven me to unsubscribe. Stuff like this just annoys your most loyal fans who watch every video because it just doesn't stop.

 

I can't change other people but I can change myself so I'll walk away.

They actually addressed it in FP video as you are technically paying for ad-free content there.

 

As subscriber to multiple youtubers, LMGs way is among the least annoying imo. At least they try to script it in the content. It's much more annoying when it's done in the middle of content. Or what some do, shame you for not supporting them.

It's certainly getting on my nerves, but honestly a lot of what Linus does gets on my nerves these days. The focus is far more on making money than making good content. There's nothing inherently wrong with that, but their older content (as in from 2-3 years ago, not when they started) is still much more enjoyable.

I don't mind them. They are like 3 second plugs usually and they try to connect them with the content somehow or drop it in vague relation to something else so they aren't annoying a all.
