is it really worth using the cpu? it draws so much power and makes so much heat and is very slow. the gpu is so much better.

That depends on what you think is worth it or not, personally I run BOINC on my CPUs alongside folding

Is there still a requirement to complete a certain number of work units before you are eligible for Quick Return Bonuses? Or was that never a thing and I'm just crazy?

If that's the case then that means that this will grow even more once people start to complete the 10 WUs and become eligible for the QRB points, assuming people are setting up passkeys.

I set mine up, figured it would help make sure stats were tracked for me properly.

So I just downloaded FAH to try it out, and it says that it'll take my CPU (R5-3600X) 7 days to finish a WU and my GPU (1080 Ti) 10 days to finish a WU. How would I ever hope to finish 20 WUs in the 35 day period this event will run?

The ETAs aren't accurate when you first start, the first WUs are also used as a benchmark so the ETAs are more accurate later. Let the first WUs finish, takes about 30 minutes or so then check again.

So that's why I'm getting 300K PPD with a 1080, a 1660, and an R9 290. Should be 2-3 days before that number breaks 2 million.

You were Folding last year and so should already have a passkey. You might just have to look through your email to find it again.

 

If it’s not entered then yes, that might explain your low production.

 

Note that there is currently issues in that the Advance Control displays just the points with no QRB as the FoldingatHome Team are updating their servers but the Extreme Overclocking Stats should still be accurate.

I have the passkey and everything, I just switched to the new client yesterday, and haven't folded in a while so once 10 WUs are in it should be fixed.

if you already had the passkey and it worked before you should get the QRB right away.  Check your stats at EoC or at Foldingathome and they will likely show the correct values

Was just checking the log file for mine and I noticed this line.  Is this something that this work unit has specified, or is it some kind of configuration or software issue I can change?  It seems like for a while it was using all 6 cores, but now it's only using 4.

Reducing thread count from 5 to 4 to avoid domain decomposition by a prime number > 3
