Win 10 SSD Caching storrage Pool

QBallDuke

Hello smart guys,

i got an idea i wanna get rid of my expensive mainboards. What does this mean im moving from boards with 10 sata slots and 8 usb3 ports to cheaper boards and get my ports by pcie cards.

the idea is not spending every upgrade the money on parts wich can be seperated from the mainboard. Now to my problem i need 10 sata slots in total so i looked around and i realized raid pci express controllers are very expensive.

i got 6 HDDs 1 TB and a samsung ssd with 500 gb and a ssd with 120 gb.

so i came across windows storrage pools, wich can do a kind of software raid. i know in the end hardware raid is faster but i like the idea of adding different drives of different sizes on demand.

So i read about storrage pools and also about tiers and cache with ssd´s . Is it possible to have one or even 2 of my ssds caching my games. for example my storrage should detect the data im requesting often lets say i play minecraft alot so it will move minecraft from the hdd to the ssd and so on. i read windows server has this feature build in and people sayed with powershell its possible to do so on desktop machine as well.

i would realy like to get some hints from you guys. and thx for reading.

btw sorry for my bad gramma and english but im german and i gave my best here :D

Just buy bigger drives and get rid of the small HDDs and SSDs.
