It's not really an outright lie, because the meaning behind it is not literal. 

 

The idea of a personal computer was foreign to most people during that time (60s to 80s) and it really wasn't until the 80s when the personal computer really started to take off. Until then, computation was left to larger, main-frame type computers. The simplest reason for that was that PCs had to be programmed manually to do anything useful until the interface was made far more accessible to the typical consumer.

not at all, I was well into computing in the 80's and the year he referenced (84) was full of small personal computers capable of both pictures and colours. I had c64 that was even capable of 3d rendering, and I had friends with vic 20's, microbee's and z80's.  Just about everything he insinuated in the first 20 sec was completely false.  the only thing the mac bought to the computing world in that era was a slightly more unified all in one unit and more power.  But it wasn't even color.

 

Keep in mind I lived in a country town in Australia at that time so I don't think it was a foreign concept to that many people.
