1080 vs 2060

so I have been looking to upgrading my GPU I have a 1060 but I wanted a 1080 I have been looking at prices and I saw I could get a 2060 for much cheaper. Is the 1080 more powerful I thought it was but correct me if I'm wrong? I just need to know what the differences are between them and if I can expect similar performance Also i am still learning how to find out if parts are compatible but I don't know for sure here is my motherboard will it run a 2060? https://www.gigabyte.com/us/Motherboard/G1Sniper-B7-rev-10#ov

I'd go with the RTX 2060 personally.

I'd go with 2060 in that case, it's much cheaper yet not much slower without RT stuff.

From what I can find with a quick search, the 1080 gets about 3-12% faster fps in most titles, the cheaper 2060 is probably the better way to go

You can get a Vega 56 for $265 open-box on NewEgg or wait for the Navi cards that'll equal or blow out the older cards for the same price as last generations entrance prices.  I don't recommend any RTX cards due to their massive issues and any card under RTX 2080 isn't even recommended for Ray Tracing, which is beyond underwhelming at best; especially for such an awful price.  GDDR6 memory isn't doin well (high failure rates), cards are over heating, catching on fire, crashing systems, artifacting, etc.

 

Here's the projected stats for the new Navi cards and current high end prices for top graphics cards (Vega 56 and RTX 2080 were the lowest at discount).  The cards are the highest end price, otherwise, so they'll be lower if you don't buy the top tier in-slot item/card.  Processors are the lowest price I was able to find w/in the last 3 weeks:

Don’t buy open box or refurb from Newegg. Someone posted on here recently a refurb card they got from there that had rust on it under the cooler and caked with dust. 

 

I went from rx580 to rtx 2060 due to the 1080 pricing being way higher. The 2060 is a very good card for 1080p and I don’t regret buying it at all
