What NVME SSD drives should I use (BTW first poster and planning to build my FIRST EVER PC)

Which SSD Drive should i use that's NVME should i use for my (Motherboard) Gigabyte X399 Aorus Xtreme?

Btw I'm going to build my first ever PC in the summer

The parts I'm planning to use are:
(Motherboard) Gigabyte X399 Aorus Eatx
(CPU) AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2950x (16 core, 32 threads) EDIT (I probably switch to a Ryzen 3000 thats coming out in a few weeks because you guys keep recommending it more than 2950x )
(GPU) Asus ROG Strix Geforce  RTX 2080 TI
(PSU) Corsair RM850x (850W)
(RAM)  G.Skill Trident Z DDR4-3000 32GB
(Case) be Quiet! Dark Base 900 Full Tower

Any parts I'm missing?

U don't need more than 8 cores unless your doing real work aka video, or photo rendering, CAD work, etc etc.

Your burning money just to say u have a thread ripper don't be that guy be the other guy. The smarter guy that doesn't need attention. Be him........

Also wtf do u not realize the 12 core Ryzen 3000 will be out this june??

Why would u get an OLD ASS Threadripper 14nm architecture when a refresh is just a month away talk about wasting money geez u are the other guy aren't u.....

You expect me to reply then you'd best QUOTE me so I can........thanks

if this is a gaming machine, 8 cores from a 9900k will melt the 16 from a threadripper. Threadripper only makes sense in budget workstations and when going for the full fat 32 core option.

I agree with people if it's for gaming go for i9 unlocked or wait for R9 as i9 has good base and boost clock and in gaming you mostly need better per core performance than hyperthreding also i think samsung nvme SSD are best and as I can see you r buying top end stuff go for 970 EVO .....

New ryzen processors in a few weeks, how long can you wait?

Also, if this is a gaming PC like it seems it may be, NVMe drives won't deliver more performance, you should keep to standard SATA.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

You should definitely get an Nvme drive for the OS and all the stuff it uses.

And for all the must programs/apps that are installed in the OS!!!

Edit: Not to mention the insane boot time!!!

Get a Samsung in my opinion, they are the best!

also dont fanboy that hard.

NVMe is overrated. Cached Sata is just as good for OS tasks while generally being cheaper.

Zen 2 is right around the corner. look at what that brings to the table and act accordingly.

cant really tell the difference between a 20$ SSD and a (good) 120$ NVMe drive...........

some difference which get negated by a cheap cached drive like the Crucial mx500. which is 69$ for a cached 500GB SSD.

I'd prefer getting a SATA SSD or two with the most capacity for the price ._.

optimally it would be a 500GB MX500 crucial cached drive for OS and some storage + a 500+++ GB regular SSD for mass storage.

because caching is most useful for OS tasks.

What will the system be used for?

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Forget the SSD. Stick with spinning rust until per dollar you get what hard drives give.  Hard drives for life!

Aren't HHD's more likely to break down more easily than a SSD since it has moving parts?
