Who is concerend about the Win 10 May Update needing 32GB free space

I read this and Microsoft said it as well that the 1903 May update requires 32GB free space.  This sucks for people with 120GB SSDs that put OS on it and apps on it.  I don't get it I will lose 32GB of space ?  That is insane.

Simple thing, reduce data on the ssd or upgrade ssd 250gb is bare minimal nowadays

It will be a problem, i am running a 240gb SSD and i am alredy at 50 gb of free space, the limit i wanted. Why? Because it is good to keep a little bit of free space (it can be smaller on ssd but still a good thing). Also it will apply for new instalations? like i would need a 64gb boot drive?

Sorry to hear this, yes I have no idea what MS is up to.  Well see exactly how much space we will lose after the update is installed.

Did you even read the update notes or just get on here to whine about the 32GB?

 

It says the update will push the storage requirements on Windows 10 64-bit to 32GB. Meaning Windows 10 will take up 32GB of space on your machine now.

 

Not that the update needs 32GB of space.

No? 120GB SSD is more than enought for Windows. I have 85GB free with Windows 10/Steam/Origin/Chrome/GPU Drivers installed on the SSD

That 32GB is mostly going to be for data relocation and temp files. If the update truly ads 32GB of data to the Windows operating system, its time for Microsoft to take the aging Windows framework out behind the barn and end it.

No need to attack me lol.  You are right with what you said.  Im just delivering the news I got.  I never said WIn 10 will end up being 50 or 60GB OS ,, Just that you need 32GB free to install the May update.  But I understand it will go on top of the existing OS so it wont really take up 32GB and what not.

I'm not worried, but people who bought one of those really cheap 10" tablet-style laptops have reason for concern. The amount of those things that have a mere 32GB of eMMC storage is staggering. And part of that 32GB is used by the recovery partition adding even more fun to the whole thing.

As for 120GB SSD's, unless it's filled to the brim with applications chances are you can do a bit of house cleaning beforehand, move the location of documents and such to another drive, and have plenty of space for the upgrade.

It is just space requirements, Windows wants 32GB free, but it won't consume that much.

It's also a move for Microsoft to kill off OEMs selling systems with very low storage which are really inadequate.

Considering SSD are not that expensive anymore, I would still recommend investing in a bigger one. Having all your main programms running from an SSD speeds up everything quite nicely.
