You all seem to be very anti-asus. Yes I get the price seems to be a massive sticking point. But after researching the VRM. I don't see any boards bottlenecking 9900k, no massive failures. No alarming temperatures. No poor quality components. I just don't understand all the hate lol.

It's called marketing, hiding the issues, it happens a lot these days... ;)

Nothing below the 250W range here is safe for OCing the 9900K.

ASUS really did blow it on the Z390 MB's, the VRMs really aren't good, I wouldn't get anything other than the AORUS line.

Yeah I understand all the marketing BS. I give razer the same grief. I'm not just looking at the VRM 'issue' mind. I'm also thinking of other features. Bios etc...

The chart you just linked put them in the safe choice.

So are you saying the boards themselves are not bad boards. But you could get the same for less money?

I'll admit I do have my heart set on Asus. I'm just an Asus guy after trouble with other manufacturers. I'm just trying to ascertain if say the formula would bottleneck/throttle the 9900k

They aren't BAD MB's.

It's just there are better out NOW, AORUS is the best currently period with the Z390 MB's.

The ASUS boards could throttle with those VRMs as they are weak for the 250W CPU, other than that $500 board you are looking at.

That is all we are really saying.

No problem.

I actually was running my 9900K on my Z370 MB that has a similar VRM setup as the current ASUS Z390 MB's and I did have some issues with stability when pushing it and the 2080Ti.

So I got the AORUS Z390 Master.

Had a think about it.

Going to pick up the AORUS Z390 Master.

Bite the bullet with the O/C and leave it alone.

Worst comes to worst and I'll pick up a different board down the line. So thanks for being a positive member of these forums. Others could learn from you. Cheers bro!

You should have no issues OCing the 9900K on the AORUS Master. OC is much more simple than some make people believe on that MB.

I run mine at 5 GHz (All cores) at 1.3V and it's stable, it will do 5.1GHz at 1.33V and 5.2GHz at 1.38V.

On Air Cooling, NH D15

This is all I had to do:

Set the CPU to 5 GHz

Set the VCORE to 1.3V

Set the LLC to Turbo

Set the CPU TDP Power to 250W

Set XMP to Profile 1.

Hi,

Do you know if I can use X2 kits of

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/g.skill-trident-z-royal-16gb-2x8gb-ddr4-pc4-25600c14-3200mhz-dual-channel-kit-silver-f4-3200c14-my-112-gs.html

To make 32gb. As I can't find a quad kit 4x8gb in the UK at a decent price.

Will I run into any issues with X2 dual kits?

Thanks

Also tweaktown are recommending a good portion of the maximus range. So what gives. Is all the hate simply down to 4phase vrm(which I've seen nothing concrete that actually hinders performance at 5.0ghz). And price?

One good model that actually is not overkill and has decent pricing would be the Z390 Extreme4. Has as many VRMs as some top tier and not as expensive.

But all depends on what you are looking for.

Does this mobo have 4phase or 8phase?

8 phases worth of components in 4 phase mode. 8 phases worth of efficiency, 4 phases worth of voltage ripple suppression.

Hottest VRM comparing to the rest of the semi-flagship boards

Tweaktown also praised the GTX 1650... Tt's good words dont mean much, though if Tt say something's bad, it must be god awful, Satan-like.
