Possibly the dumbest kickstarter yet?

Just go into your bios and turn off external boot or put you put you hdd as first priority. This should prevent the usb drive from doing anything before you log into Windows.

Or you could and go ahead to set up a password to access your hard drive, so if you dont know the pass, nothing will be able to access the files on it (at least not that easily)

Though idk if all bios have this feature.

With the software allowing you to change the password if you have forgotten it... keep in mind that you can get the software alone for £8 and put it on your own memory stick.

You can set up a backup memory stick in windows incase you forget your password..

Ok... but what stops anyone from going into the BIOS and switching it back on?

things like this have been around but for the pros the best is ophcrack with rainbow tables and or Backtrack ( what i use and is the best ) as far as how they are using it, its just a simple plug and play that anyone can do with a simple search. this is why windows and intel started enable AES, TPM and Bitlocker with relative ease.

It's already that easy. So whats the problem in making it more accessible? Sure my shop will lose a few bucks, but who gives a damn.

Looking at it, I would buy it even though I know how to do it without. It has a easy to use UI and it saves me a minute or two of time.

software tools for this already exist - he is just making it automatic and pre-setup for anyone to buy and be able to use while having no required experience with computers

With great power comes great responsibility, this doesn't seem safe. but whatever.

It's a bootable program  that just removes the password from the windows sam file. Not done by anything windows related.

I know, I got that far. But I see little or no point to this. I was just stating its been that easy for years.

For the common user, it's a great tool to have. Most people don't know how to do it.

I've probably removed more passwords than all the people combined on this forum and I love the idea of it. I'd keep a dedicated key remover on my keyring or lanyard.

I think the only person who has no idea what this can be used for is the creator. Those backers all know exactly what they are going to do once they get one.

You all realize that this technology isn't new right? It boots from the USB stick and resets/retrieves the password from your machine. I use a similar tool at work to get past BIOS/login passwords on machines that customers forgot the passwords to. Nothing illegal about it.

I have a CD that does exactly the same thing.  And i'm pretty sure it could be copied into a USB key.

well th

Right, because I forgot Trinity Rescue Kit was a thing.

TRK exists and already allows me to fiddle with a PC's passwords and whatnot.

Yea TRK is a cool way to remove passwords from Windows based OS, had to use it a few times after people ask to fix their computer but don't give me the password.

Isn't this illegal?

Actually no it is legal and defintly has a legitimate use, although why he is making a kickstarter for something that is already around is beyond me.

it is not the device that is illegal it is what it is used for, so dont use it on a schools computer.
