What kind of setup do you like

This might come across as a strange question, but I usually see setups and think of little things that I could tweak to make it more appealing to me. Personally, I'm not that into a minimalist setting or one that is super organized. They are visually appealing, yes, and I would love to have one, but I prefer a setup that feels a bit more personal where I can see everything, including the cables, but where the cables are layed out in an organized fashion. I guess that sounds weird, so my closest bet would be to compare it to Casey Neistat's studio. I like how it can feel cluttered and organized at the same time. But that's just my opinion. So, who of you are into minimalist setups or any other type? I'm not really familiar with them.

I like mostly organized places but, mine is an organized mess.

 

Except the cable management, that I'd hate to slack off on.

I personally love the minimalist art style, my reference picture for when I was building my desk set up was this photo from some youtube video. Now personally I I'm not exactly in the financial situation to be able to splurge on an ultrawide curved monintor and a new beefy desktop. So I made do and used my HP Spectre x360 13", and still built myself a desk that I would feel comfortable at when I'm editing photos/videos for multiple hours a day. Unofrtunately the sun is already down where I'm at so sorry for the photo quality but heres a peak at my build. I try to keep it clean and any unnessecary cables/clutter is promptly and effectively hidden.

My setup is organized, but in a way where only I really know where everything is.

 

To another person, it would probably look quite a bit messy, though.

I'm more of a fan of practicality when it comes to my own setup. It's messy, yes, but it's easy for me to swap shit out.

It’s gotta be neat, portable, and very sturdy. Not going to lie I take my laptop absolutely everywhere, its gotta last. Got to have good audio and a nice keyboard with a great screen.

I don’t mind a bit of disorganisation but I like clean and understated. Therefore my rig is a clean modern black box as small as possible, hidden behind my monitors.

 

I also avoid anything decorational, no figurines or models etc. Just my PC stuff and papers etc related to what I am working on.

 

Doesnt have to be tidy, just has to be relevant.

well i had my dream setup. 3 1080p displays taking up almost my entire desk, leaving only space for my pc and a keyboard and mouse. 

 

then my pc died. 

 

so now i only have my laptop on a stand with the keyboard and mouse in front of it.

As simple as possible but I do fancy two monitors lately. Generally I try to have it take as few space as possible why remaining comfortable to work and to game on. I think that is primarily because I am not living in the biggest flats and I like my desk to be big enough for a computer setup (plus docking for my laptop) and enough space to work on different stuff.

I'm just having 2 1920x1200 monitors side by side, desk pretty messy and using a playmat as mousepad, if I'd need space for writing on paper, I'd push back the keyboard, closer to the monitors so I have enough space for writing.

I think my setup is borderline perfect for me, i just need some better speakers for my table (i have a pair of Polk TSi100s, i want some Tannoys) and i'm thinking about buying that 31.5' AOC monitor.

I'm not a fan of minimalist style. I have 4x 1080p60Hz TN monitors on my setup, if I had a lot of money I probably would upgrade to some IPS or VA monitors which higher refresh rate.

My setup kind of a semi mess state (figurines on desk, on top of monitors, on cases, magazines on desk, and other odd and ins).  Cable mangement is pretty much nil.

As long as aesthetics aren't directly affecting your performance. Like cooling and stuff like that

Personally I go for performance first, then aesthetics, then cost.

 

I like the main part of the PC to be fairly clutter free, but I also don't mind seeing some of the cables in the system, so long as the actual m/b itself is as clear as possible.  For instance atm, I have a Sahara P35 RGB case.  Looks good and it's fairly cheap, but when I installed everything, there was a lot less space than if first appeared...

 

As a result, I have cables along the PSU shroud which would need re-doing if I were to put fans along it, but they don't look 'bad' there too me.

 

As for behind the back panel, yeah that is a complete mess...
