Hello!

 

Right now I am building a new system with an overclocked core i9 9900k (5Ghz) and I’ve been wondering which AIO should I get? Or maybe a DRP 4 will do the job? Thank you.

DRP4 will perform on par with many 240mm AIOs and even exceed many of them.

Which is why if he wants coolest he needs to get a 280 or 360mm aio.

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

 

How many watts do I need? ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explained, group reg is bad

Not really, You really dont gain much over an AIO with a custom loop. Custom loops is more for looks than anything. You may gain a few degrees at most compared to some of the better AIOs out there.

I don't think you mean as cold as possible as a constant supply of liquid helium is expensive. Same goes for LN2 or crushed dry ice an alcohol. Custom loop would yield best temps and be most reasonable at the cost of high cost. AIO is cheaper but temps will be worse. But a quality 360mm rad would be best

Custom loop I won’t do, don’t want to be my mobo destroyed by a leak, plus, I don’t have the opportunity to change the water every year or so. The best solutions I found are: DRP4, x62, TT 360mm AIOs, and the Noctua 15 ofc.

I once did a custom loop completely custom, my dad used to be a contractor and had a bunch of extra pipes left over, bought a pump, used real pipes and also would a water block. After some work and testing it actually fucking worked but it looked jank afff

You don’t use normal water, use distilled water it’s not conductive. If you do destroy something some how, RMA your parts.

Even deionized water and distilled water will eventually obtain ions and become conductive over time. There is no way around that.

Makes since, then use a real beefy air cooler or a aio. If your not willing to use a custom loop, get a custom loop kit off of eBay though, if you can follow instructions ypthey wont leak.

I always recommend high quality air coolers, they do well enough in their own right and have less points of failure. A 360mm radiator does better, but I find it doesn't justify the price tag it usually brings.

Get the DRP4 because you seem to have reservations with water cooling in general so the easiest answer is to go air cooling.

Want cold... what about a phase change unit (lie the LD cooling systems)?

 

Seriously, my son runs a Kraken X62 on an overclocked 8700k and he sees similar temperatures to my overclocked 9900k on a full custom loop (2 GPU's & CPU on 2 radiators - 420mm/240mm).

I read that you want it as cool as possinle in the title, so you need as much surface area as possible. the bigger the overall rad space the better.
