Overclocking i5 8600k and rtx 2060

Tevildo

If anyones overclocked an i5 8600k and a rtx 2060 tell me what numbers you put in the bios settings and for the gpu, msi after burner. Never overclocked so I am a bit worried about it. Would prefer or like it fi someone with a similar rig told me what they put in. This is my rig btw.

Not with that cooler you won't.

I haven't gone all the way with my 8600k, 4.5 Ghz is more than enough for me. Haven't tested the limit of my chip either so can't say.

Look up videos on overclocking, what's stable for one person may not be stable for you especially when it comes to the GPU.

Although it would be nice, copying overclock settings from other people is not a good idea. Not all chips overclock the same. Look up guides on how to overclock before you start messing with it. My general rule is to overclock the CPU in increments of 100mhz, run a stress test, and turn up the voltage once it crashes. Make sure to watch your temps too.

As for the GPU, the same logic applies but should be executed differently. I do increments of about 10-20mhz on a GPU as it can be very touchy sometimes. You should also start by doing the core clock and memory clock separately. Overclocking can be a lot of fun and beneficial, just be careful man and make sure you know what you're doing.

Can you reccomend any coolers that are good? Ones that wont be big that they will block my ram sticks.

Punching in settings without understanding is a sure way to frustration and/or even hardware damage.

Only when you learn how to overclock (thoroughly learning the basics from guides, videos etc) and get a basic understanding you should try to OC.

I've seen dead CPU-s from people who read somewhere someone was using 1.5V on 5.5GHz on some CPU so they went and did the same on a board with bad VRM, without proper cooling etc.

Thats helpful thanks bud, Ill start from there and go higher. Also is my cpu cooler efficient enough to keep my cpu at good temps?
