120mm vs 240mm vs 360mm

I have a 2700x at 4.2ghz stock cooler and it runs around 60-70c underload and I’m wondering what size aio I should get I’m thinking 240 but I can go with 360mm for $40 more is it worth it because I’m tight on money right now

EVGA 280 CLC pretty much performs the same as 360's for that CPU. Youll be fine with it.

I was looking at the Captain 240ex people told me it was good

I guess I'll make the comparison, from what I know.

A 120mm is usually equal to a stock cooler (except the stock cooler thats on the 2700x)

A 240mm is usually equal to the best air coolers (noctua nh d-15, dark rock pro 4)

Anything past is usually good for overclocking.

360 would be the best choice for looks and performance. But that load temp isn't bad but, if you want to somehow stick to a theme by getting a black radiator over a black tower the results will be the same more or less.

120mm : waste of money / useless

240mm : waste of money

360mm : ok?

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

I used to have Kraken Cooler from NZXT, then switched to custom water cooling loop ... in the end I went back to air cooling, and bought  Dark Rock 3.

With AIO I was bothered by the sound of the pump, and with custom water loop, I had a leak after 8 months. In the middle of the nigh I got woken up from horrific sound of pump running dry, because most of the water got leaked out. So my experience with water cooling is just bad, and I'm sticking with air cooler xD

Also worth to mention, decent air cooler like Dark Rock 3 or 4 (Pro), will perform about the same as 240mm AIO.

Moving that aside, 240mm is enough for your CPU, and I don't see the need to go for 360mm, since you will be only cooling your CPU with it.

The NH-D15 and Dark Rock Pro 4 competes with 280mm AiO's.

240mm is stuff like the normal Dark Rock 4, the NH-D15S.

And AiO's are never "equal" they will always be inferior products that cost more while having more points of failure.

Equal cooling performance. worth it for people who like how they look more than air coolers.

280mm or 360mm. Preferably 360mm.

Anything smaller isnt worth it over an air cooler. Air coolers perform aswell as 240mm, can even compete agianst some 280mm's, and outright beat 120mm AIO's, just a fact.
