G-sync option not showing on nvidia control panel

Go to solution Solved by mxk,

Things you have to have for it

1. Freesync monitor

2. Windows 10

3. 10 series card and up

Hey so I geeked out when I heard Nvidia announced it would be supporting adaptive sync. I patiently waited for the driver and I installed it, but the option didn't appear in the Nvidia control panel.

I know most monitors are not optimized but the option should still be there according to the tutorials I found.

I run a gtx970 with an AOC G2460PF which is not officially supported but the G2590FX is and I assume the tech inside is very similar.

Is there something I'm doing wrong?

EDIT: the display is connected with DisplayPort

PLSS help!

Does your monitor have an option to activate freesync in the monitor menu? G-Sync only showed up in the control panel for me after I manually activated FreeSnyc on the monitor.

In order for it to work a few things needs to happen,

A) You must be using Display Port

B) Ensure Adaptive/Freesync is enabled from your monitors menu

C) Then G-sync should be there and allow you to enable.

D) It is only supported on 10 series cards. I do not think its available in older generations.

apparently it has to do with the display port type, I think, right?

Yeah, you're right. I have some stuff I need to back up, my PC hasn't been wiped in a few years. I think you'll be able to flip your 970, people that are on budgets still look for the 970 since it's still a good 1080p card.

  • 3 months later...

I was curious if anyone might know why my Gsync option disappeared? I had a borked Windows 10 install previously that I have wiped and just did a fresh install of. This fresh install though, the Gsync option is not showing up in my nvidia control panel like it did before. I would have figured a brand new fresh install I would have been good to go....
