I don't, although I am considering the newer Nexus 7. Curious to see how many tablet owners are here.

I'm being completely serious, if someone could inspire as to what their purpose is? I still don't understand the trend.

One option needs to be used to but don't use or have anymore. I would fall under that.

Used to. It was a little useful. To be honest I can do everything on my phone that I could on a tablet and I sold it.
An ultrabook isn't much heavier, and has way, way more usability so I bought one of those instead.

I own a Surface Pro (it is my first laptop) and I guess it can be considered a tablet. Although I don't use it that way.

I purchased them as a laptop replacement, never happened, still got my 5 year old ThinkPad..

I have an iPad 3 (Don't hate, I got it as a gift) and a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (First Gen). I mostly use my ultrabook anyways so I honestly couldn't care less if I didn't have them. Touch devices can never be as effective as a laptop. Although the new Asus Transformer book Duet TD300 is a real eye catcher.

The only reason I would buy a tablet is for media consumption or something like school.

BUT,I am currently fine with my GS4 for media consumption and I could easily buy a bluetooth keyboard and mouse,or even better use a mech keyboard and mouse through OTG.

Together both completely overshadow the tablet's niche. I can understand maybe getting a tablet for kids, but for portability? Phone. Bathroom? Phone. Get  shit done? Laptop. Sitting on the couch and need more sensory stimuli, Laptop. 

 

A phone, especially a phablet pretty much does everything a tablet can do, and a tablet is just an inferior less useful plaything substitute for a laptop.

 

but that's just my opinion, so whatever. I'm genuinely curious what do you guys use them for?

I use mine as an OBDII reader for my truck.

 

It is also Mutch lighter than my laptop with 4 hours more battery

I own a 2013 Nexus 7. I use it to watch hulu and stuff. Its also pretty handy with organizing my podcasts and stuff. I use it daily.

If you are consider purchasing a tablet? Take your phone and surf the internet on it while on the toilet, on a network.

 

Now imagine it was bigger and couldn't make calls (besides skype etc). 

 

You will know exactly what owning a tablet is like. In the future you might be able to play mass effect 1 on the toilet at low res, while charging the battery every 15 minutes and having awful controls.

Hmm, I can see the battery life point

 

I'm curious, what adapter and software do you use and is it decent? I was thinking of either picking up a computer or one of those neat bluetooth interfaces.
