any advice would help, also pairing it with 1060 or 50 ti(or maybe a radeon depending on the poll) and 16 gigs kit. sorta future proof, at least 6 years would be nice.

For games? Just pick whatever is cheaper, both are good.

For workload? Depends... bot Ryzen has a slight edge overall but there are certain workloads where Intel dominates.

Not sure what a 4th grader is exactly going to need high end hardware for any serious workloads. Youll be fine with the Ryzen build for long term

Benchmarks will always show intel with a slight lead but if you want best bang for your money Ryzen will give that to you.
