another topic about an innovation that ends up as a discussion about people loosing jobs. Come on we can not stop progress so as to keep jobs that are no longer needed. Back in the day my grandma's village there was someone that made a living transporting water, should they not have water in their houses?

What we need is jobs so that no one is unemployed, what those jobs are i guess it changes with time.

This is not actually new tech. It's a Japanese company that have licenced the tech from a Norwegian company called AutoStore.

www.autostoresystem.com

AutoStore System have been in operation in for example Komplett's storage system for years. Komplett is Norway's biggest online store.

This is one video I found:

https://youtu.be/0f3sz0vJjH8

Edit: don't know what the deal actually is between the Norwegian and Japanese company.

plus guess when the video was made?

Tell me why everything that can be automated shouldn't be automated.

It is entirely possible to have an automatic prostate exam. I really do not want that to be automated.

You assume an automated prostate exam is just a machine doing what a human finger would do.

break the paradigm, think outside the box. Obviously it would be a sex bot that would cath you during intense pleasure and vibrate the prostate directly to "ultrasound" its dimensions and structures. Boom you'll have men lining up for it. Heck they'll want their insurance to cover monthly prostate exams.

Although recent research suggests the old school exam is not really very effective. compared to other less... tactile... avenues.

a prostate exam is a prostate exam. On top of the "digital tactile examination" being invasive and uncomfortable, its also been said its horribly ineffective compared to other means. So why not change it to something enjoyable and more effective?

It’s pretty effective and a standard procedure. You don’t change it because it is a cheap and effective method, it’s not really meant to be comfortable.

I personally see this as a way for self driving car to work in any climate... if the cars are on rails, it could easily be adapted for snowy environment.
Would most likely be impractical though, but would be neat as a proof of concept.

i agree. Still if you look to America (and other countries are following them) they are already fat as hell and sedentary, not to mention the screens.

But you could just not work and go outside to travel, do sports, be with the kids,...

yeah and it's lame they can only do stuff like that because their internet isn't sh*t. try watching a Linus video with a 1Mb "broad"band connection, I literally leave the computer alone loading it for 15 mins while I do other things, and in f*cking 240p lol

I always remember this image when I see an european or US guy complaining about a minor inconvenience

It's not effective, its been shown many other practices are more effective at detecting prostate cancer earlier. If you are going to argue to keep sticking other peoples' parts in peoples' recta for lesser results why not allow other methods that would remove that ingress and automate a more effective vector?

Its pretty effective. If you have an enlarged prostate or a prostate with lumps it’s very easy to detect with a finger. It’s the most cost efficient way by a mile with no specialist equipment needed. Seeing as modern countries have a prostate cancer survival rate of >90% this really isn’t an area that needs improvement.

Cancer tests need to be:

- Cost effective

- Cheap

- Portable

- Correct at least 95% of the time

- Easy to administer

Nothing fits that better than a finger.

Automation is now in its 3rd century of development, life only gets better for everyone, nothing to see here.

PSA testing is heavily controversial at the moment within the industry.    It's hard to ascertain exactly why without a degree in biology however I can say that my oldman's PSA test came back negative and it turned out he had a most aggressive PC and was within mm of metastasizing.
