and unless you're being paid to play professionally going from TN to IPS or 144hz to 240hz won't matter

 

So basically just buy this $399 1440p 144hz IPS free-sync display and you're set, because TN sucks for daily use.

G-Sync vs IPS is like comparing apples to oranges.

 

G-Sync is a variable refresh technology while IPS is a monitor display technology.

not two things you would really compare. im guessing that if you're playing competitive games and looking for g-sync that you are playing at 1080p 144hz or 1440p 144hz. at this point IPS isnt that common and is quite expensive.

You really should be running at a resolution like 720p with lowest settings that retain all detail needed for the match and aiming for the highest FPS possible. 

G-SYNC does cause input delay so it is undesirable. IPS gives you better colors (generally) so if having clear colors is important to spotting enemies, then I would say IPS. High refresh is the most important though.

IMO gysnc and high Hz. i have a 60hz non-gysnc monitor that i OC'd to 70hz and i was getting a MASSIVE amount of screen tearing but that fixed it. 

 

Basicly, i wouldnt spend a ton on Gsync i would spend your money on a higher refresh rate monitor

No it wont because that is why there are invented.

Sure anything has latency but G-sync/Free-sync wont add latency to the point its noticeable.

It allows the game engine to run at its full speed as it didnt use any frame synchronizing technique well except g-sync or free-sync of course.

So no problem with the latency

G-sync or free-sync wont cap your refresh rate.

If the fps goes above your max refresh rate, variable refresh rate just wont active and they will allow the fps to exceed the max refresh rate as though u didnt use any frame syncronizing tech ;)

On top of it u can always enable fast sync or amd enchanced sync which work pretty much the same to eliminate screen tearing but the trade off is that u might experience a micro stuttering at high framerates.

Or u can use In game limiter to cap the fps which wont gives u any input lag or if the game doesnt have that option u can use Riva but it adds a lil bit of input lag but its so small and hardly noticeable unless u are not an elite player who demand zero latency then its no problem at all.
