DIYPC is by far the best of the cheapo case manufacturers from what I've seen and used. Built in their Define series rip off case and was blown away at how well built it was for the $40 I spent on it last year.

This shows cheap isn't necessarily bad if it has all you need, I wouldn't be able to use them .. I need that 8+ 3.5" bay life.

They should do as many video's of this format as they can and then build the ultimate cheap pc-that-does-not-suck or whatever.

What is actually happening with the scores on this? Bad cooling cases getting 3+ on the performance scale, the Apex case has a 1 for injury factor despite Linus joking about hazard pay, the numbers don't even add up right on it and the Cougar cases, and the Apex's wrong score is changed, and still wrong, in the full list of scores at the end. Was someone drinking while editing this or something?

And did I make this account just to post this unimportant mini-rant? Yes. Yes I did.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Great video guys- thanks for the post. I'm considering building a secondary/new Ryzen rig and these budget guides are actually quite helpful for discerning the accessories and parts that'd be best for building a solid system for a lower than 'full enthusiast' price.

The cases that Linus didn't like would be perfect for office machines. They're discrete and thermals isn't a major issue for such machines.

The XION XON-310_BK was known as the Kolink Victory in the UK (I said was as it's no linger available through its primary seller), so it's pretty much a generic no name case that multiple case "manufacturers" sell under their own name.

This was hilarious and, actually, very true and accurate. I am a DIYPC believer thanks to Hypnotoad and its DIYPC J21-BK case, I don't understand what people see in that Xion case, and major kudos to @LinusTech for shunning the Logisys PSUs rather than talking about how great it is to see a power supply included for those gamers on a budget that can afford a GTX 1070 but don't want to shell out $35 for a CX550M.

...but I digress.

I was a little disappointed not to see the Logisys CS136BK on the list. It's truly the most fun I've ever had building in any case, ever.

why factor in Liquid cooling compatible at this price point ???

if someone want to cheap out on Case , Space for large Air cooling and Gpu seem to be more concern?

I've done a few builds with that Cougar case and it's really easy to work with. One thing I've noticed was it came with 4 of those plastic hdd drive rails, and it has numbers on it. On one of them, I got 1,2,3,4, and on the other case I got numbers 1,1,2,3.

The Zalman case, I did a few builds with that too, the outside is a different design (T1 Plus and T2 Plus), the inside is the exact same. I don't get why the HDD bracket has to be accessed through the front. So you guys want to remove the bracket or need to install the HDD? To install the HDD all you need to do was slide the HDD into the rails and use screws to secure it. There was no need to remove the HDD bracket.
