Can I turn my PC off while folding and resume the work order?

Title says it all.

If you turn your PC off, it'll stop crunching. That's why many of us leave our machines on 24/7, to do as much crunching as possible.

If you can't / don't want to do that, though, you can turn your PC off and it'll resume once you power it back on.

Thanks, what I was looking for. I sleep in the same room as my pc so 24/7 is a no go

You could turn off the monitor and play some music on something so the fans don't keep you awake

As stated earlier, you be fine turning the rig off.  Only thing, you will lose points since F@H still base off QRB off time you download the work unit till you upload the work unit.

Reason I only use two GPUs on folding.  Rest of my hardware does BOINC since you not punish when you restart, turn off rig, or lose power.

it'll resume when you turn the system on, sometimes a wu has a time frame to finish in, which if you turn the pc off and go on holiday it probably wont be abe to resume the same wu when you turn back on.

Silent build - You know your pc is too loud when the deaf complain. Windows 98 gaming build, smells like beige

That's imprecise. GPUGrid, for example, uses the QRB system as well. The vast majority of projects don't use it, but there's nothing preventing them from doing so.

The power light is really bright on the define r4, I need absolute silence to sleep, (or pretty music). and I am a few feet away from the PC so no, leaving it on is not an option.

You might want to set a shorter checkpoint

interval though, i think it's 15-20 minutes
by default.

It doesn't seem to always make a new

checkpoint when you pause the wu, so

there is that..

But yes, the client makes checkpoints or

"savepoints" with a set time interval. You

can shut down the computer and resume

from the last one on a given wu.

Ah, was not aware that project did that.  Thanks for the info.
