Alright, help me decide guys.

Noirgheos

So, my options are:

970 SLI (with waterblocks and original ACX 2.0 coolers, which I'll use over the water), for my Fury + $125 on my side.

Or, Tri-X 290X which can overclock like a beast guaranteed for my Fury, plus $260 given to me.

Opinions?

Keep in mind this is all Canadian dollar.

Uh... then how will I get the 980 Ti? I only have $150 on me now... maybe $200.

Yeah, so basically sell my Fury, pay him the cash for the 970s and waterblocks,

then sell those and grab a 980 Ti? Won't happen, I see people with 970s as cheap as $300 on Kijiji...

290x, you know it overclocks and the 290x is a beast. In games that don't support SLI the 290x will walk all over the SLI. Plus extra cash.

That's what I'd do anyway.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Even with the guy reducing it to 125 extra for the 970 SLI? I'm taking the guy's word that it overclocks, he showed me sliders, but that doesn't mean shit all. His performance is above average in games though.

The 970 SLI performs like a 980 Ti when it works in games...

It does, but I always look at a multi graphics card set up by considering the performance of one card.

I'm a dick so in all honesty I'd offer to trade the 970 guy even up, worst thing that happens is they say no and you go with the 290x. But like I said I'd want the 290x anyway because those cards are awesome.

Yeah, shit. 970 SLI will perform way better when it actually works. Thing is, one 290X, even stock, beats a single 970 more often than not, right?

What he said. I´d choose the 290x over the 970´s mainly just cause I want a 290x.

oh yeah. A 290x overclocked is definitely more powerful than any 970.

What about a stock 290X vs a stock 970? They should be equal right? Or the 290X wins a little.

all those are slower than your fury so why do you even want to trade it for something less powerful?!

Stock for stock. That would depend on the model and if "stock" included boost. Would be close though.

Drivers, one thing you have to give AMD is the 200 series has become more powerful over the last year. Roll back to year old drivers and the 970 has a chance.

What do you mean by this? That AMD has improved over those benches and the 970 has stayed the same?
