Intel says Skylake/Broadwell CPU shortages will be remedied "soon"

Rekx

skylake-box-design.png

Processors built on Intel’s new Skylake architecture officially launched on August 5 but that doesn’t mean you can actively fork over your hard-earned money for one today. If you live in North America or Latin America, you’re going to have a pretty tough time tracking down a Skylake CPU due to supply limitations.

It’s something Intel is aware of and fortunately, the issue should resolve itself soon, the company told The Tech Report.

The Broadwell Core i7-5775C, meanwhile, is another chip that Intel said it is experiencing strong demand for. Those gunning for that processor will be happy to hear that availability will become more widespread as the current quarter progresses.

Sucks for people in North American. In Europe Broadwell/Skylake is in stock almost in all big online retailers. Though for me x99 looks better for the money.

What ever happened to desktop broadwell CPU's

they've kinda slipped under the radar due to them being rather pointless for desktops, which usually will have a dedicated GPU.

Mostly because Intel didn't give out review samples.

I have to say, I was really surprised at the lack of stock available in the Americas. As you pointed out, there were plenty of 6600K/6700Ks for sale in European retailers. I know there was talk that Intel had been struggling with low yields so they were low on stock for the launch date, but it seems as though they had logistical problems too. If it was simply a matter of too little stock to populate retails channels that doesn't explain the large imbalance of availability between different markets...

But the good thing is that they sip power compared to others :/

Would have loved to see broadwell power efficiency and an unlocked cpu on 1151

Same in Denmark. Though the 6700k is also more expensive than the 5820k.

Only slightly, and the gap from the 4790K to the 5820K was small in the first place. It's just the usual early-adopter fee. Maybe Komplett paid for priority shipping. :P

5820k is the better overall choice imo, personally my 3770k is fine until 10nm I'd have to spend £700 just for all the gear if want to go with it.

Yeah after Intel raised their prices. It began with the 4790k. AMD better have something good coming.

Norwegian etailers seem to be running out as well, or some didn't get any yet in the first place. There are only 3 etailers with 6600K availability, and same for the 5775C.

However, they're swimming in Z170 motherboards.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

There's freakin nothing in Italy. Just some overpriced Skylake cpus.

Few and overpriced Z170 boards, almost no DDR4 dual channel kits.
