I really don't like using laptops so I have never actually owned one. I sometimes use a netbook or my parents laptop and my experience is that they are slow, not ergonomic, trackpads can burn in hell, speakers are too quiet because they're pressed up against my lap so many things are wrong with them. A desktop wins me over 10/10 would bang.

Toshiba A500. It was a great thing back then! Best laptop speakers ever, compared to ASUS B&O and HP Beats. Want a MacBook Pro w/ Retina display and my school may be getting me one next year

My trusty ASUS Eee PC 1005HA that's been serving me for the past 4 years or so. Only thing I've done to it is throw in a Samsung 840 EVO and add the sticker for it. Other than that, the old boy is still bone stock.

No, and they never will be "Replaced" by smart phones, Yes there are plenty of people who use smartphones instead of laptops, but there is an even larger amount of people who simply cannot get the same functionality out of a phone that they could get out of a laptop, not to mention phones have horribly small screens compared to laptops.

My gaming laptop: Dell Inspiron 1501.

Upgraded it with a dual core CPU, 3GB of RAM, 120GB slow as fuck HDD and Windows 7 Ultimate. Runs Minecraft at 13FPS and Source games usually at 30 FPS. (L4D is the odd one out, I get like 7 FPS on it)

Asus K53E: It was used for some very light gaming, but mostly school work. I have never any problems with it. I upgraded it to Windows 8 (from 7), 8gb of ram, and a 500gb Seagate Hybrid drive. It is a great notebook.
