Plenty of cars beg to differ. Blanket statements like this don't hold up. You can build a 4 cyl that will beat a stock v8. Vice-versa.

Exactly what are you asking? 

Tit for tat, V8s are objectively better with low-end torque and power in almost every application (and tend to be smoother to boot), while V6s are generally a compromise between inline-six engines and V8s.

Generally more efficient for passenger vehicles? Huge displacement V6s generally don't exist. While on the V8 side of things, 6208 ccm V8s have been placed into production sedans.

It all depends on the application. I personally like rotary engines and over boosted turbo 4 cylinders. Big V8s are nice but if I'm going big....give me a V10 or V12. Nothing feels nicer than those.

i dont now i have a supercharged 527 big block that i am going to put on a coustem go cart ind with being a 200 pound go caravanned a 140lb 13 year old

For an axle, or transmission to sustain that amount of torque - it is no longer a go kart (you will use vehicle trans, rear end, etc).  That's a dune buggy

THIS.  When you have to have massive gear reductions for your engine to be able to function, you have yourself a crappy engine.  Hooking the motor straight up to the tires is the wave of the future, fools!

V6s fit places V8s won't, they can be lighter (though not always are) which is particularly useful if the engine isn't mounted within the wheelbase. So good for smaller vehicles that aren't mid-engined. Can be shorter than an inline 4, though will be wider obviously. 

 

V8s normally sound better, naturally torquey engines (unless flat plane crank) and have the potential for more power than a V6. Beside supercars, generally only found in large heavy stuff.

 

Most of the really fun, lightweight, stuff has inline 4s. And the really special stuff has V12s.
