Best free software to back up Android to PC

So I've got a Oneplus 6 and I'm on the Oxygen OS beta. Unfortunately, to keep getting updates I now have to downgrade to an older version and then upgrade OTA, which will wipe my phone. I want to back everything up first (or at least as much as possible) including all my text messages, pictures, etc. I really don't want to use cloud storage as my Internet is slow and constantly going down. Does anyone know of a good free program that will allow me to back up to my computer, then restore it once I've completed the upgrade?

 

I'm open to paid versions if I must, but I'm on a very tight budget as I'm basically surviving off savings right now during the pandemic.

 

Edit: Also, my phone isn't rooted. I forgot to mention that. I'm also looking for recommendations based on experience, not Google results.

If you're rooted, Titanium Backup. If not, maybe just stick with Google's backup.

I've already googled several, but I was hoping people could give me advise based on experience. Lists like these are usually based on paid recommendations.

I'm not rooted. Does Google have a PC backup utility? If not, that interferes with the Internet speed problem.

There aren't a ton of offline backups iirc. Maybe read this list and try some:

The most important part of t hat guide is this IMO

I personally just backup files that I want to keep to a mixture of cloud backup and NAS, NAS for bigger files like photos/vids etc (and also because I keep multiple backups), and everything else with a combination of google's in house android backup, and dropbox.

Google's works pretty well, it can detect the device you're using and restore your texts and app settings for the most part. I wouldn't trust it to restore everything though, and would also backup either through, just copy/paste from phone to folder(s) on your PC, and/or a backup app.... just to be on the safe side that your important data (see, irreplaceable) is actually backed up.

There is no "complete backup" function on Android, except Titanium Backup with Root.

 

All those "Apps" do, is backing up your photos, Downloads etc, which you can just do yourself.
Plug your phone to your PC, drag everything over, and that's it.

 

You will most likely NOT have all your Apps including App-data (like your accounts, saves etc) backuped, and also not your System settings mostly, unless you use manufactur own tools.

A complete Backup like you know it from an iPhone does sadly not exist in the Android world.

 

 

So i agree there: If you're not rooted, use google's backup, and just copy/paste your Folders with your pictures, music etc.

 

Now to your specific Case: You want to backup to the exact same phone, that's easier.
Try "Oneplus Switch" App, and it will create a Backup File with all data you have checked.
I think, this should be what you expec, since this will also backup your Homescreen setup, wallpaper, and system settings.

 

But if you use that, do NOT combine/mix Oneplus Backup with Google's backup.

 

 

Stuff like this however doen't work that well, if you want to make a Backup, and move to a Samsung or Xiaomi phone for example.

I'm well aware that there aren't many options. That's why I was asking for personal experience from people. I'm sorry, but you weren't really helping. It's okay not to know something.
