so what does this mean?

---------------------------
Apex Crash - Out of Memory
---------------------------
Apex crashed because it ran out of memory.

The most common causes of this are:

• "Texture Streaming Budget" is too high in your video settings. Lowering this can help.

• All other programs plus Apex combine to use too much memory. Quitting other programs can help.

• Your Windows page file is set too small. Increasing the page file size can help. (The page file lets Windows move less important memory to disk until it's needed again.)

TECHNICAL INFORMATION:
• Apex was using 1.8 GB of physical memory.
• Apex was using 6.4 GB of virtual memory.
• Apex failed to allocate 2.0 MB of memory.

• Your PC has 8.0 GB of memory physically installed.
• Your PC has 128.0 TB of virtual memory (with the page file).
• After Apex exited, your PC memory load is about 66%.

Ctrl+C in this window will copy this message so you can paste it as text.

You need more than 8gb of ram, if your doing anything In the background you'll end up running out of memory quick.

1. Your not taking advantage of dual channel speeds and should probably get a matching 8gb stick

2. For some reason games (and windows) are very memory intensive now

Don't run slobs and make sure you have everything closed in the background, turn down some settings in game, not much besides that.

close everything else and make more swap space available.

prices have changed a lot over the years. you may have bought at a high point. ram in some cases has come down to under a 3rd its high point price

Um... GB is capacity, MHz is speed. For instance, 1 x 8 GB DDR4-2666 RAM would have a capacity of 8 GB and a speed of 2666 MHz. You can check your RAM speed with the CPU-Z tool (third-party software) or from the BIOS/UEFI.

  • 1 x 8 GB DDR4-2666 should be going for $30 - $45.
  • 1 x 8 GB DDR4-3000 should be going for $35 - $45.
  • 1 x 8 GB DDR4-3200 should be going for $40 - $60.
  • 1 x 16 GB DDR4-2666 should be going for $60 - $75.
  • 1 x 16 GB DDR4-3000 should be going for $70 - $80.
  • 1 x 16 GB DDR4-3200 should be going for $70 - $90.

Prices above are in USD. If you watch for price drops, you might even be able to snag a stick or two at $10 - $15 lower than the prices listed above. I believe RAM prices are expected to rise in the following months due to shortages or throttled production or something. (Don't take my word for it, though.)

Also, if you already have an 8 GB stick of RAM, I'd suggest upgrading with another 8 GB stick and taking advantage of dual-channel memory instead of buying a 1 x 16 GB stick (which would also mean scrapping away your current 8 GB stick of RAM).
