Floatplane Redundency

Not a feature suggestion, but something to note. On Floatplane the 'Home' and 'Videos' tabs are pretty much exactly the same and thus; kind of redundant. The only difference is the Home tab has 'manage subscription' at the side - which can be managed in user's settings.

 

Doesn't make sense to me, to have both home and video tabs when they both are the same thing. There aren't any other content categories or tabs (like audio, images, etc.) as Floatplane is meant for video content creators.

The order/selection used to be different on both with Videos being chronological and Home kind of "popular right now", but it changed a couple of weeks ago for some reason...

Seems kinda silly but I'd bet someone rolled out the wrong code and no one noticed it.

While we're at it, can we please ensure the player loads at the size of the video rather than some arbitrary default that changes when it starts playing?  Having the buttons jump up so your click is instead delivered to the thumbnail under it, causing you to switch away from the video is quite tiresome after a while.

I just want floatplane's player (fullscreen) to stop massively and continously screentearing. Downloaded videos don't do it, and youtube/other videos don't do it. I expect it's because I'm running a 100Hz monitor, but its g-sync and works fine playing everything else without jitter/tearing.

It works fine for me on a normal 60 Hz screen, so perhaps the issue does lie with that (yours being 100 Hz), or perhaps something else more particular to your system, and I'm thinking it might be the latter for a few reasons.  For one, this community is obviously one with a higher than average proportion of people with high refresh rate displays, and so if that alone could cause the issue I'd expect this to be a common complaint (and afaik it isn't).  Additionally, I play everything back at 1.25x which results in a 37.5 fps video, which, if there were mapping issues, should reveal issues even on my 60 Hz screen if that's all it was.

SLI is another rarity. But 120 and 144 on 60 mapping is much more subtle than 100 on 60. But either way it has to be some sort of specific interaction as I use chrome for everything, and the floatplane video player is the only one I've ever seen it happen. Even for a moment. Its incredibly distracting. 

 

Oh and the monitor is technically ultrawide, but it would be surprising if that was the issue.

Which web browser are you using? I get horrible screen tearing in Firefox but when I switch over to Chrome it plays fine. Only an issue with Floatplane.

Sorry to hijack, but just wanted to share. No idea why it happens still on floatplane and floatplane alone (stills stuff isn't as distracting), but it does. both full screen and windowed. Never seen anything like it in any other media player.
