980 Ti + 1070 in SLI?

Jakub_NF

So I wanted to find out about this and couldn't find anything on the internet. I currently have an ASUS ROG STRIX GTX 1070 and EVGA GTX 980 Ti Hybrid on my hands and I'm wondering if I will be able to run them in SLI and make it work. I'm just concerned about whether they'll work together or not and as far as I know the 900 series isn't compatible with FreeSync but will I be able to use my G-Sync compatible monitor if I connect it to the 1070? I have a Gigabyte z390 Gaming X mobo (not sure if it supports SLI either)

You can not since SLI is only supported to matching GPUs, thereafter you need either another 980 Ti or another 1070.

Either ways SLI is a dying technology you shouldn't bother with nowadays.

You mention Gsync and Freesync side by side here, but it's important to note they're different. Gsync would work with 900 series cards already, so if you have a Gsync monitor, you wouldn't need to add a 1070 to make it work. Freesync on the other hand would require a 10 series card.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

There was a software hack that allows two dissimilar or unsupported nvidia GPUs to run SLI, but from what I saw at the time it was a world of pain to set up (disable driver signing in Windows and other steps). Just save your time and sanity and stick to a single card, or get a faster one if you really need it.

Main system: i9-7980XE, Asus X299 TUF mark 2, Noctua D15, Corsair Vengeance Pro 3200 3x 16GB 2R, RTX 3070, NZXT E850, GameMax Abyss, Samsung 980 Pro 2TB, Acer Predator XB241YU 24" 1440p 144Hz G-Sync + HP LP2475w 24" 1200p 60Hz wide gamut
Gaming laptop: Lenovo Legion 5, 5800H, RTX 3070, Kingston DDR4 3200C22 2x16GB 2Rx8, Kingston Fury Renegade 1TB + Crucial P1 1TB SSD, 165 Hz IPS 1080p G-Sync Compatible
