From my experience with FreeNAS it generally doesn't care about swapping motherboards so long as the devices that were previously plugged in are reconnected.

Is FreeNAS installed on USB or a HDD/SSD?

I'd probably go with Electronics Wizardy's suggestion. Should prevent more issues down the road.

Are you swapping from a particularly old board to something new? Are you maybe swapping from something proprietary to something else? I could see these causing unforeseen issues.

Don't see what you need? Check the Full List or *PM me, if I haven't made it I'll add it to the list.

what was the new and the old systems? Could be the different driver of the boot drive. Id do a reinstall and restore config.

It's from a z170 to z170. How do I save the configs so I can restore them later after I reinstall FreeNAS OS?
