Chinese phone (xiaomi, huawei etc) local version VS global version.

mrchow19910319

I am debating whether I should get the phone in Singapore or in China.

If I buy in China,  the price will be a bit cheaper.

If I buy in Singapore, the phones are global version.

What will I lose if I am gonna purchase those phones in China?

I know that the global version has Google Play Store on it. What else is different?

If I will put a launcher on it anyway, does it still matter? which version should I buy?

If it is not broken, let's fix till it is.

if you get from china, make sure the network(mobile signal) supports your location.

also google play may be difficult to get it installed.

launcher doesnt matter in anyway.

Since Google Play services aren't available in China afaik, I'd go for the global version with Google Play. I've read that Huawei has locked down the bootloader so rooting is impossible.

It will be missing Google play services.

And from multiple phones in the past have by a mistake sent data to some Chinese servers (owned by Chinese ISP sometimes, other times the brand's own servers), but when the brand is contacted, they remove it, and their reason is that (not direct quote) "Forgot to remove it from the global version"

That seems to me like the Chinese versions of phones usually (or always) sends that data. (Amount do vary).

Get the global version, I bet you will regret if you don't.
