What am I experiencing here? Warm tones on left side of screen

YellowJersey

So I've been through quite a few monitors in the past few months and the prevailing issue has been inconsistent tones across the screen. Usually, the far left side of the monitor has warmer tones than the middle/the right side or warmer tones on the top of the screen and getting cooler as you go down. I understand that it's going to be more or less impossible to get perfectly consistent colour/brightness across the entire screen and that usually the corners/edges will be a bit darker. However, I'm curious to know exactly what the phenomenon is. I've done a bit of reading and I'm unclear whether this is backlight bleed, IPS glow, or something else.

Currently, I'm using an LG 34UC88 (34inch curved ultrawide IPS 1440p) and it's been the best out of anything I've had thus far (I would hope so considering it's been by far the most expensive). The left side of the screen is slightly warmer than the rest of it, the phenomenon extending about 7 inches/18cm across until it clears up. (I've whipped up an image to give you an idea of what it looks like. That image is a bit exaggerated but gives you an idea) It's noticeable in situations where there's no colour variation in whatever is on screen. So it's not noticeable when gaming; only when, say, I have two documents open side by side due to the white background.

What I'm trying to determine here:

-what exactly is this phenomenon?

-is the phenomenon widespread enough that I should just accept the mild inconvenience knowing that getting something better is a lottery?

-is there another type of panel I should consider (VA? QLED?)

-should I exchange this one and try again? (subjective, I know)

I genuinely can't tell if my eyes are playing tricks on me and if I'm actually seeing a slight pink on the left side of the picture.

You say its happened on all your monitors, I doubt its that consistent for all the displays you've bought so maybe its your PC's settings? I'm not quite sure, but it could be that you have really bad luck I guess.

Yes, exchange immediately. Probably just a bad display chip or a bad resistor somewhere.

It's definitely subtle, but the more I use the display the more I notice it. But something like this has occurred on the 8 or 9 monitors . The guys at Memory Express think I'm cursed.

Odd question. Is that something that can be repaired? Curious to know if a warranty repair makes any sense inquiring about. The only reason I ask is because the rest of the screen is tip top.

It may be even bad light in your room that interferes with led light on the edge of the screen. Try to plug your monitor in shop before buy.

Damn, it can be even autosuggestion. :)

I inverted the colors on my laptop and I actually see blue (pink without the high contrast) on the left edge of the screenshot. Are you sure its been the monitors? Or is something wrong with my eyes

I've tried
-different cables

-different computers

-different OSs

-different lighting conditions

And all the different combinations of the above.

I'm not sure but I saw a different color on the left side of the image. It might be my head messing with me still

have you tried testing the monitors with other output devices?

Not quite sure what you mean by "other output devices."

That is most certainly NOT subtle.

Perhaps that image doesnt show up well on some LCD monitors, but on my Plasma here, its clear as day.

That right there is a defective unit. You can fully expect to notice uniformity issues on 99% of all LCD's due to techology itself.. but not that much.

You need to get that replaced under warranty.
