Nowhere to run nowadays, but ASUS seems to be the absolute worst of the bunch.

I would 100% go for the microcenter deal. Buddy, that's not even a question! The upgrade is significant.

HumdrumPenguin got a reaction from Mark Kaine in Under 14? No social media for you!
I think it would be a good idea to force people into studying and taking a test about social media and its repercussions. If passing, they'd be granted a "license code" that would be mandatory for signing up. That license code would also be attached to who you are, so creating fake accounts would be significantly harder. If shit hits the fan, authorities would likely have an easier time tracking the perpetrator.

Is HDR enabled on Windows Display Settings? What about Nvidia control panel (assuming you have an Nvidia card), is everything setup properly on the color settings? (10-12bit, high refresh rate, native resolution, full rgb specrum)

The 1080 Ti has DisplayPort 1.4a connections, which have a maximum total bandwidth of 32.4 Gbps. It's able to handle 240hz at 1440p. Your monitor has a DisplayPort 1.4 connection, which is also capable of handling that. There should be no issues. My suggestion is for you to try different drivers and a new DisplayPort cable. If that doesn't solve the problem, the monitor may be faulty.

This presentation is so out of touch with literally anything, that I wonder how the marketing team didn't flip over so much bullshit coming from whomever is giving the shots (or maybe they did...).

I haven't really read through much, but if this is true, then Apple needs to get **ed. It's crystal clear they knew they were infringing a patent.

HumdrumPenguin got a reaction from xManok in Should I sell my RX 5700 before the next big launches?
You're assuming the best scenario possible, selling the current GPU for more than you paid before the release of the new cards, and being able to buy a new card at MSRP on release date. Chances of this going wrong are high, so keep that in mind. I personally don't sell GPUS prior to having a new one at hand. That saved me big when the 3000 series were released and it was as hard as it gets to get one (at MSRP from a dealer).

I do. The USB port on my DAC is taken by the Mac from work, so SPIDF is used on the PC. I also use SPIDF from the TV to another DAC, because the latter doesn't have HDMI eARC. With my last build, I wanted to get the TUF board from ASUS because it had all I need, except SPIDF, so I had to fork out the extra cash for the Strix. Different people, different needs.

There is a reason though. Supporting a third competitor allows them to better invest in future gpus, making them more appealing and driving overall prices down. Buy you get but fucked at the same time.

I use G. Skill Neo RGB 2x16gb 6000 CL32 on AMD EXPO with a 7700x and an ASUS Strix X670E-E board. It’s rock solid. If it helps, the rest of my PC specs can be viewed by visiting my profile.

Both headphones you have are a tad bright. I think they would pair really, really well with a Schiit Asgard 3 and Bifrost 2. I loved that combo when I had it.

I'm not passionate about anything really, so I tried 6 or 7 formal educations. Ended up moving to a different country on my own and graduating in design. Now I work as a UX designer, and the pay is finally getting somewhere. When you really don't know what the heck to do, limiting your subjects of exploration to computer related areas is not a good idea in my opinion.

You also didn't discuss your personal or family financial situation, so that may limit your options as well, and you'd need to be more careful with your choices.

Precisely. Change your 3700X for something newer ASAP. AMD 3D CPUs for 7000 series are coming out in February. I go for one of those. The downside is that you'll need DDR5 RAM and a new mobo. The 4090 generation gap is really big. There's no cutting corners for that GPU. You do need current CPUs to make good use of that, and even then there will be CPU bottlenecks at 4k depending on the title you play.

You’ll lose performance, but not by a lot. I was using a 4090 at 70% power cap before the whole debacle on the melting connector was solved, and my FPS was still sky high at 3440x1440 and 4k

As mentioned, I'd add RAM, upgrade the CPU to 5900x or 5950x if not much more expensive, and use the rest of the money for the best GPU you can get, whatever it may be.
