There is no reason to when AMD and Nvidia cards with comparable performance and pricing and mature software are readily available.

There is a reason though. Supporting a third competitor allows them to better invest in future gpus, making them more appealing and driving overall prices down. Buy you get but fucked at the same time.

That's all well and good for enthusiasts with extra cash who can buy hardware for secondary PC's just to fiddle with. People who depend on their hardware to work well and deliver value have no reason to buy objectively inferior products just for the sake of promoting competition. Intel had $80 billion in revenue last year, they don't need anybody's charity. If they're serious about the GPU business they should be prepared to lose money on it for at least the first couple of generations.

I bought an evga ftw3 ultra gaming card for 695$ online and am soon gonna sell it and buy a 4090. nV is expensive as hell though!

It depends if your CPU/Motherboard not support resizable bar Intel ARC is worthless without that. It lose massive prefromance without resizable bar. As well it run very bad in old games that use DX9 even DX11 is not very well but than come DX12 games Intel ARC is shine.

I've got one A770 16 gb to replace my gtx 1650 super, and it works pretty good, better performance compared to the dated gtx, but there are still some situations where i still plug back my nvidia, i play Initial D 8 Infinity using parrot and it just doesnt work on the Intel Arc. Other than that the Intel is always my primary GPU.

I built a PC with an A770 for a family member a few months ago, they seems to think it's a huge upgrade over what they had before. To my understanding they haven't had any driver or stability issues.

I love it, but it's still a buggy mess. I upgraded to it from a RTX 2060.

 

My biggest use for it is Topaz Video Enhance AI, but I can't upscale with it currently, because between Topaz updates and Intel driver updates, functionality has been broken for around 2 months now. Some encoding problem with FFMPEG. Performance has gotten INCREDIBLY fast with it though, when they finally fix it, it'll run great. Topaz was kind enough to extend my license though for free because it's been so long, and still there's no fix.

 

Sometimes I start my PC and randomly no monitors will connect. Then I have to power cycle the PC and it's fine.

 

Handbrake encoding is like crazy fast, especially if you have a 12th or 13th gen intel CPU.

 

Games run great so far in 1440p. Supposedly it handles those games in 4K respectably, but I've never tried it. I haven't been unfortunate enough to play a game that doesn't work, but where it excels is these new games that are coming out. 16GB of VRAM w/ a 256-bit memory bus is definitely a nice-to-have. The new Jedi Survivor game that came out runs great on it, even on day 1 when all the NVIDIA folks had so many problems with it. I get around 70-90 FPS reliably, and it runs buttery smooth, with your occasional artifact, and very occassional crash. I sometimes miss a lot of the NVIDIA features like frame cap, direct control over some settings, but for the most part, i'm convinced I don't need a lot of that stuff. I dare say though, I watch for driver updates like a crazy person, because every driver update comes with fixes and often time, free performance boosts.

 

Someday it will be equivalent in performance to a RTX 3070 with 16GB RAM with all these bugs ironed out, and that will keep me happy for a long time.
