But in all honesty, Smartwatches are more of a 'hey, you guys who wear watches, wouldn't it be cool if it was smarter than your children?' type thing.

I'm not. I want to see people fulfill their own ambitions. That means that every job doesn't have to be balanced. The world won't be inherently less shit just because careers are now 50/50. There are shitty people, both male and female, and the net effect will be a status quo in terms of how shitty people are to each other.
 
The numbers are poor because effort to push people into those careers in BOTH genders has only just started to move up.  No-one gave a shit about science when all it seemed to do was produce Atom Bombs and more money could be made in banking and retail and entrepreneurial work. Now the money's in STEM and everyone is flocking towards it, which means only now is the issue highlighted and only now will things improve.

Is the problem women developers aren't getting the same opportunities as comparably skilled male developers? If so, that's a real issue. Prove that, fight against it, etc.
But otherwise, there is nothing at all to suggest videogames should change to accommodate the wishes of these people, who don't even play the games in the first place.

It doesn't matter if Nathan Grayson wrote a review on Zoe quinns game or not. The issue is he wrote about it. He mentioned it as a 'check out this'. He also reported negatively on the game jam zoe quinn helped destroy before making her own scam version, and through various evidence we know he was in a relationship with her at the time. No reporting to the boss, to avoid such issues. No repercussions. Fuck that shit.
If that doesn't sound like an issue to you, you aren't into videogames, so fuck off. People who aren't into sports don't have a say in the rulebooks. People who are, might. It's that fucking simple, common sense. If you still think 'i'm not going to let these gamers get what they want because I don't like it', then congrats, you are an obnoxious asshole.
 
Zoe Quinn is a shitty person. Heck, Anita Sarkeesian is a fairly shitty person for shitting all over my hobby. We know this. We speak badly of shitty people. That's OK. That's the least they deserve. They don't deserve death threats, but hey, when your active on the internet and social media, they happen. It isn't uncommon. People deal with it.

No, the ethics about gaming "journalism" has been a pain point for many people long before Zoe Quin. Zoe was just the straw that broke the camels back.
Sure, her game didn't get any review. Her game did however get a reward in a contest where her friends (some friend who might have benefits ; ) ) were a judge. She also got favorable coverage for her game jam (which is a total scam, the money goes straight to her personal PayPal account) from Kotaku. But sure, let's ignore those two minor points and focus on "b-b-but she never got a review!".
 
The movement don't target positive mentions of feminism. That is just flat out bullshit. What the movement target is mentions of gamers being sexism. You are claiming people are going "oh they are talking good about a thing we dislike so let's attack that". The reality is that it goes like this "oh site X and Y are calling us horrible things, let's attack that". There is a massive difference. The core problem is that the gaming press are attacking gamers, and they are secretly collaborating to do so. Don't pretend like multiple sites posting articles about how "gamers are dead" on the same day is not an attack against gamers.
 
This is about ethics. The people being targeted are not targeted because they are women, they are being targeted because they are horrible fucking people. You just need to search "not your shield" to see that this is not straight white men vs females. This is gamers vs horrible people.

Zoe Quinn - Someone who scammed people from money (said she was going to hold a game jam and had a donation button for it, but all money went straight to her personal paypal account) and attacked The Fine Young Capitalists when they were trying to help female developers. By the way, 4chan and the gamergate movement has donated over 70,000 dollars to the project. The project is about giving a woman the chance to have her game developed for her, for free. She also has a photo of her wearing a pin saying "cuties killing video games". I am not sure about you, but if I was caught wearing a pin saying "cutie killing black people", I think I would deserve some backlash from that group of people.
 
Samantha Allen - I am going to cite her description of herself because that should be all you need to know about her. "i'm a misandrist. that means i hate men. i'm not a cute misandrist. i don't have a fridge magnet that says, "boys are stupid, throw rocks at them." my loathing cannt be contained by a fridge magnet. i am not an equality feminist."
 
Mattie Brice - A man hater who posts things like "Men's hearts are always so tasty" on twitter, along with a photo of some lunch she had just finished. She has also posted things like "lol video games are for losers". Again, if I posted "lol black people are losers" then I think I deserve some hate.
 
Anita Sarkeesian - A woman who pretends to like video games even though she said that she didn't at a speech a few years ago. Her videos are written and produced by a person called Jonathan McIntosh, the videos are full of stolen gameplay content (because you know, she don't play the games herself so she steal other peoples' videos) and logical fallacies.
 
Leigh Alexander - Here are some of her tweets, just so show what a "nice" person she is. "it's funny how dudes who are 'aspiring game journalists' tweet bullshit at me as if i cannot instantly kill all their dreams". "just killed another career it's a mild day". "maybe mean of me to burn a young female writer but. sorry. this is not gonna be a career for her.". She has also posted the personal information of the people she attacks on her twitter. This is just a small taste of her bat-shit insane posts. The scary part is that she actually has the power to end peoples' careers, and she uses it frequently.
 
 
But sure... These people are being attacked because they are women, right? That's why we are seeing gamers attack women like the ones with the #NotYourShield hashtag, or Christina Sommers and KiteTales.
Oh all those horrible attacks. Christina must be shivering in fear from comments like "I want to marry this woman", "I love you" and "fantastic work". I am surprised that KiteTales haven't fled her house with comments like "Great arguments listed, so happy to see someone who encourages people to view the positive side of women in games." and "omg, its the complete opposite of Anita. Your cute, actually have a brain and make a case and point. brilliant." on her videos.
Or no... Wait a minute. Those aren't mean comments at all! It's almost as if the gender of the person making a statement is completely irrelevant. I know this sounds crazy, but maybe, just maybe, people are being attacked not because they are women, but because they are fucking stupid and evil people? I know it sounds crazy, but from the examples given above it looks like a real possibility, don't you agree? When a person starts attacking gamers they get hated. When someone protects games they get praised, no matter what their gender is.

You forgot to add:
-Strawman arguments (she got awards from the people she slept with, not favorable reviews).
-Still trying to push this as "this is men that don't want women in gaming" instead of "this is gamers who are sick and tired of people shitting on their hobby and calling them very bad things".
-Thinking that things are "attacks against women" when it's actually "attacks terrible fucking people". An inappropriate joke can be just as offensive to a guy as to a girl, yet they will think of it as sexism against women.
-Think that sites which are about video games should comment on "social issues" instead of you know, games. I really dislike IGN but I have to give them credit for actually sticking to reporting on games and not reporting on whatever "gaming culture" is involved with.
-There are so few women in the industry because they are getting rejected because they are women, and not because there simply aren't that many women interested in gaming on a professional level. They make it sound like there is a huge crowd of female game developers banging on EA's doors and the CEO going "oh no! Women are trying to make games for us, we better get rid of them!".
 
 
Imagine if we were having the same debate over middle school teachers and below, which are heavily female dominated jobs. "Baww middle school teachers are so sexist, that's why men don't want to work there! They are sexism pigs and I hate all of them. Teacher culture is dead and don't deserve any respect! We should stop teaching our kids things until we have solved this crisis!".
 
 
Edit: Oh and I think this thread is a perfect example to show that this is not "white men who hate women". Christina Sommers did a fair video about it and the respond was comments like "I want to marry this woman". I didn't see a single person say "she is a woman so her opinion is invalid" (at least not from the pro-gamergate side).

I wish saying something was "too hard" was a legitimate excuse in my job too.

Maybe they should just remove that sentence and hype it as "we have improved reset all settings! Quickly remove all your nudes on your phone and in the could with one simple click!".

Been playing it. Brilliant fun, and I have learned quite a bit - with some decent written companion, this could be an amazing start for kids n code or suchlike. Certainly taught me quite a bit.
 
Highlight in the first chapter being forcing me to think of a way to get an absolute value without using the absolute function. As it turns out, was stupidly easy, simply taking away from 0 (and I consider myself good at math, this world is fucked), but was a great way to get me to think outside the box. The very next challenge let me use the absolute function, satisfying as fuck.
 
Anyone with a compatible device, do try it out - if only because they have a freestyle mode and someone has already made a breakout clone.

The Israeli government, good intentions or no, has killed more than 2000 Palestinians, of which the UN says 70% were innocents. The method in which they are attacking the terrorists was flawed from the outset. Indiscriminate bombing is characteristic of terrorist attacks, but both Israel and Hamas have employed this in their attacks. The only major difference when balancing the Israel army and Hamas is that almost all of Hamas' kills have been soldiers, whereas Israel has been extremely inefficient with it's bombs.
 
The one massive thing that cemented my position on the situation is the Israeli bombing of a UN school. Despite tens of notifications about it's status as a UN school and that it was filled with refugees, it was still bombed with little warning. That, to me, screams of 'We want to kill as many as we can'.
 
The Palestinian people are punished for Hamas' crimes by Israel. That's the bottom line.
 
Regardless, this is not a place to discuss these issues.

I'd tend to disagree. There's a culture of supporting Israel here because a significant portion of our country puts defending your country ahead of basic human rights on their priority list. This is quite evident in the way we just jumped dick-first into Iraq without even justifying our decisions and plain and simple lying to our own citizens and planting propaganda pieces in the New York Times.
 
We breed a culture of extreme patriotism, almost nationalistically so. We sympathize with them because a lot of us feel that it's like the situation between us and Iraq, when even then that's not much of a comparison. Even if it were, it's not necessarily a good thing to be compared to the attitude we had when getting into Iraq.

You don't understand what it's like to be so far away and basically untouchable as an audience for these guys, but to still feel their presence, and be able to point and say 'That's Fox news right there'.
