From the developers of the popular Falcon Pro twitter client for Android comes the world's first mobile coding game. Hacked is a completely new type of mobile game, only for Android (at the moment) which lets players play as a hacker who has to solve code to win the game.

Honestly, not really. iPhone apps tend to be easier to code for due to the tight control apple has on hardware (from people I know developing apps) and Android gets the lions share of the market. Both platforms have their strengths and weaknesses. Nowadays, looking at trending on the play store and popular on the app store, there is a growing number of exclusive stuff for both platforms, such that I cannot find many apps available on both, either exclusive to the droid or the fruit, not to mention the stuff that is android exclusive out of necessity (tasker, titanium backup). It just depends on what target market the developer is trying to hit, and a game like this just fits in with the android demographic much more. Not many guys into tech will have an iPhone (from my experience with people i know) due to the lack of flexibility. It may find it's way onto apple devices, but not sure since the developer doesn't really express interest in iOS, unless i'm missing something.

 

Exclusivity is now far more indicative of target market than anything else nowadays.

There are so many. No doubt. But I can pretty much guarantee you that many times more use android, simply by looking at original development for both platforms. There is only so much available for an iPhone when opened up through Cydia or the like, but on Android you have several thriving communities (XDA, Modaco to name the ones I visit) who expand upon and tweak the OS to limits only they control. There is no 'one size fits all' in something as personal as a phone, and that's a major reason why android thrives within the tech communities.

 

Yeah, iOS is easier to develop for in most situations. Try making a tasker clone for iOS. Even using the resources made available by jailbreaking, it is a nightmare and not feasible.

 

And like I said - the platforms' app selections diverge more and more as time passes. It's not a case of 'this app comes out on x first and y later', more like 'x is exclusive to a, y is exclusive to b'. 3rd party social media clients are a big example of similar apps with similar purposes not being ported because of different demographics of use. Simple is the name of the game on iOS, and power user on android.

Not every techie wants to mod the shit out of their device. I for one prefer good design to modding in the first place. Your worldview assumes that there is no single design that is easier for the majority of people to use, and you seem to be a large proponent of design by committee.

And no. Android has always had a 'design language', and it has evolved over the years as the platform matured and spread it's reach to the general populous. That's all there is to it.

 

Theres a difference between 'modding the shit out of a device' and customising it. And the developer community of android is a very good indication of the number of people who know their shit using it, it's logic. Oh wait - logic is lost on you.

 

I didn't say every techie. I said the huge majority of such work is done on android, and the logical and straightforward explanation of this phenomenon is that the people who do such work prefer android for whatever reason, i believe it's due to the open nature of android but it might well be something to do with the higher cost of entry for iOS development, as well as the ability to reach a wider target audience. There is also the chicken-and-egg situation of techies developing for android because techies use android, but regardless, the point is that Android has more enthusiasts on it's platform than android.

Current occupation? iPhone people are professionals and business people; they over-weight +38% for professional/managerial and +31% for operations/sales. Many Android people are techies: they over-weight 50% for computer/technical/medical and only slightly for the two preceding categories. Both iPhone and Android under-weight for blue-collar and retired populations.

There are lots of surveys and research into the type of people that buy certain products, this is what manufacturers and designers use to hone their products.  It is a simple fact that android is more popular with the technically minded while IOS is more popular with management and HR personality types.
