Always love the true OEM+ style of upgrading a vehicle, whether that's having a W/T Silverado with a hopped tf up motor, or adding lil nice user features behind the curtains of what's visually apparent

Socks. No one says no to an extra pair or two of socks. And they are useful outside of hiking as well.

The issues you describe, to me, sound like issues that any machine could have whether EV or not. Problems coming up so often that solving them becomes routine. How many EA888 water pumps have our techs done in a quarter of book time?

Also, were these forklifts that were on the cheaper end (I don't know the market at all, sorry. I've heard of Hyster!) and thus particularly hard to keep running? I'm assuming the electric ones were more expensive. It wouldn't surprise me if that were the case. Most EVs are more expensive than most other ICE cars because the technology is still expensive and will take awhile to become cheaper.

From what I can tell from every EV car I've had to help with or seen come in, they are much more reliable than competing ICE cars. Problems they encountered were due to poor engineering. The Bolt EV having battery fires comes to mind, a'la Ford Pinto. Our RS E-tron GTs have 6 or 7 ghost codes that we have to hide from the ECU when the cars come in because the fix is a software update that Audi says will be released next year. These things could still happen with ICE cars. On Audis, it sounds like the EVs are better interconnected to the ECUs in the car and thus give more prevalent data for diagnostics. Whereas an ICE car could have a P0420 for a vacuum leak, a bad catalytic converter, a bad O2 sensor, etc. Also, to be fair, most people with EVs do not drive them anywhere near as much as the average ICE car owner.

Time will tell. I'm pretty ready for most cars to be electric. The power grid issues and technological hurdles are what's getting in my way 😠
I got lots of pics, some not as up-to-date (none of these pics show the Mach V wing), but I got a few!

I for one would love an EV truck for work. Give. Give. Give.
It would be excellent for inner city work with less noise, and where range becomes less of an issue.

That's one thing that I really like, and want myself.

I just want to be able to hook my car up in the evening when I get home, and have a good charge for the day after. Would be so nice to have a couple of solar panels on the roof, and a battery for the house to charge the car and power the house during peak demand to decease costs, etc.

For me - That would mean zero visits to charging stations for 99% of the trips that I do. I'm more than good enough with less than 150 km's of real world range.

I think it's very narrow-minded to think that EVs are all downsides and that ICE cars are the be-all end-all. Why we haven't moved mail trucks to permanent hybrid of EVs yet is beyond me. They cut down on noise and localized pollution aplenty, they can be powered renewably, most require nearly no maintenance, and they're incredibly potent off the line. They're not without downsides, but we're still in EV infancy. Most people still refer to an EV's efficiency by its total range and not a real measure of consumption like MPG or liters/100 kilometers, and even that is variable, if you need further proof that this is still in early stages. I don't tell you my Subaru has 350 miles of gas range when someone asks about fuel economy.

    Anyways, here's my Subie!

Nonsense, if you have an EV you must stop every 5 miles to charge the batteries regardless!

It's OK to hate something just because you don't like it lol. I hate CVT's. Even if they do make sense in some situations.

You just have to agree to disagree with everyone else...

EV's still work in cold climates. You just need to have realistic expectations. It's all about having the charging infrastructure. If you're able to charge your vehicle both at work, and at home. Then you'll have zero issues with the cold and range.

So if you look at a Ford Mach-E with the small battery and AWD. Then it's sold with an estimated range of 360 km's. Cut that down by a third, and you still have over 200 km's of range. Which is more than plenty for daily use IF you are able to charge it on the daily.

EDIT: Even if we look at the graphs YOU PROVIDED. Then EV's have no issues with the cold. Especially if they have a heat pump. Which is common for EV's that's sold in Northern climates. And you're even able to pre-heat the cabin while it's plugged in, meaning that you lose zero range.

What about other EV manufacturers? Are they fine? Sure sounds like it from what you've mentioned in these posts. Even though they are using the same technologies.

I've honestly always wondered what's like the best budget one. For those who don't want to fork out for a nice Autel.

I mean you can get a cheap one and just read codes, but actually being able to go through modules and stuff like that is helpful on a lot of cars today.

Let me be clear in a simple way. All technology goes through maturation.
The idea of and implementation of the Tesla or all EVs is no different than the motor car or trains or any other new technology. Do you have any idea of the same arguments were in the past with new tech? Hell, it was widespread information that people would die just traveling over 60miles an hour and it was an American train engineer that proved that wrong. Do you recall the smart phone battery issue just a few years ago that made people go up in arms over the safety of smart phones?? The young girl the almost died when falling asleep on her charging apple phone or the swelling apple batteries, or how about the renowned joke over Samsung batteries that invoked the exploding phone in a video game?   This is a remarkably similar situation.

Welp by the logic I have seen we need to ban all cars, trains, planes, boats, cell phones, all electronic devise worldwide including your pc you're on right now reading this .... 🤦‍♂️

I will tell you to Calm down. No one is ignoring the statistics here. You cannot tell other people to not take the risk of being an early adopter of new tech, you are fighting a massive uphill battle mind you, and you are going the wrong way about it. If you want to argue, this is not the place to do it. We encourage Discussion and Debate here, arguing/fighting accomplishes nothing. Lastly, I tell you to move along.

This argument ends here, if you wish to continue to discuss that fine but drop the fighting or otherwise the entire portion of this conversation about tesla will be removed and Warnings will be issued to those involved.

ICE cars are incredibly relevant to this discussion and if you don't understand that then you're ignorant or naive. Lmao.

Also, Teslas aren't going to just magically pop and burn you alive, if you think that you might own a Pinto.

Any flooded vehicle will have heaps of issues. This goes for both EV's and ICE. The issues that do occur are just different.

And I'm sure that it's not only Tesla EV's that are having issues after being flooded from Ian. No vehicle is ever built to get flooded.

I won't think FSD is a meme once Tesla assumes full responsibility for any at fault accident involving a car engaged in FSD. Until that, have fun beta testing with your lives.

I have not tried Tesla Autopilot. But that doesn't change that it's currently only a Level 2 system. The driver is still legally required to be hands on the wheel.
And while computers react faster, don't and get tired. They fail where humans exceed. Unpredictable events, and road hazards.

And if you're in a position where you are not able to react fast enough as a human. Then you simply are not paying enough attention, or keeping enough distance to the vehicles in front of you.

Autopilot exceeds in the same area as any other decent Level 2 self-driving system. Freeways with clear line markings, or stop-and-go traffic.
