DDR5 6000 CL30 ain't too expensive and should do nicely, AFAIK there's no point in anything faster. G.Skill's Ripjaws V kits are usually on the cheaper end, look nice, and G.Skill tends to make good RAM kits so I'd go for that unless you want RGB or something.

Maybe go for the 6400 CL32 kits instead as they are more likely to be Hynix 16Gb A die and overclock better. Given they're running an Apex, if they're not manually overclocking their memory they're using it wrong. The XMP should be considered non-existent if you own a board like that, only the memory kit's IC should matter when picking a kit.

yea i most likely will have to bring it back down to-20 that's what i had it last with no issues. running heaven benchmark one more time at -30 with resizable bar enabled. then going to try to game a little to test some more. thanks again bud, let ya know how it goes. appreciate your time and input.

updated bios again, which the last update i did was about a month ago, version 4501. did update just now to 4601 stock no over clock i got 20k cinibench no drop core mhz. docp enabled same score in cinebench 20k roughly same core mhz . thanks for thoughts and replies feels good now ..

i just put bios to default settings and it went from 9k score to 16k score on cinebench and only dropped to about 3300mhz right now.. i updated bios a few weeks ago. i will do what you said now.

Replace your cmos battery, that should help. If not then it is most likely memory related

I wouldn't really go 13900KS. 14th gen releases in about a month and the 14900K should be better both in terms of clock speed and Memory controller.

As for a board, if you can afford it the Apex is probably the best bet, but it's also completely overkill for a daily system. You would have about the same experience with a Z690 Force for 1/3 the price, but with slightly slower RAM.

As for an AIO, if you're going KS you should really go for a custom loop. A custom loop on a 13900K would outperform a 13900KS on an AIO because the cooling performance is better. If you go 14th gen, it might make sense to go AIO, though we'll have to wait for reviews to see how thermals are on those chips.

That board also doesn't really exist. There's less than 1000 ever made and it was released exclusively in Asia AFAIK, so if you don't already own one you're not getting one. If you want a 2 dimmer, the only real option is the Gene or going for ITX boards.

If you have the budget and want to overclock go for the x670E motherboards lineup if not I would recommend going for the b650E motherboard lineups as tbh overclocking in gaming does not make a big difference it’s only worth it if your doing  3D graphic design or using apps like blender, davinchy resolve etc. FYI overclocking RAM on an AMD systems would be a feat to accomplish, RAM on AMD systems tend to be more unstable while overclocking.

Buy the 7800x3d and oc it, you will see a more performance gain and noticeable difference in performance, responsiveness and gaming. Not to mention lower power means more cooler cpu.

There really isn't any point to overclocking the 13900ks. It is already the fastest running processors money could buy, it scales pretty well between idle/light and heavy tasks. And under load it gives you every bit of juice it has. The only thing you would invite by overclocking that processor is instability and high temps.

Intel is fine but here amd just wrecks intel due to the 3d cache not to mention being more efficient

If i was looking at an ultimate gaming build id choose the 7800x3d over a 13900ks simply because its easier to cool and more power efficient, hence much easier to maintain subzero temps when running a phase change loop so doesnt need to be ultra beefy and you can still keep it subzero unlike intel where you need to have a really beefy phase change cooler to even stand a chance at cooling a 13900ks below ambient under load let alone sub zero

Why bother 13900ks only 1-2 core 6ghz boost on water when i can breeze past that with a 6ghz+ allcore 7800x3d running at -20c which dont even need that beefy of a cascade/JT phase change cooler

Bro if your gonna overclock the 12900KS you better do it in the Antarctic that thing already goes till 5.5ghz boost clock and not to mention on cinebench it reaches reaches its tjmax(100 celcius) and is 80 degrees Celsius when gaming. OCing is another level. May I ask why do you want to oc the cpu? If you really wanted to overclock the cpu, I would try to increase the negative offset voltage as much as possible to reduce heat and increase the clock speed till it required more power, I have done this with my 12700KF and have OCed it to 5.1Ghz boost clock with the temp being +- 2 degrees Celsius.

I can assure you that a .5ghz increase (best case) is not going to do any good while gaming, the fps increase will not be noticeable. If you are playing games like valorant or csgo which in your system would be easily pumping out 500fps+ you will not notice the difference, the human eye has its limitations. If your playing games like god of war, last of us or starfield you might want to consider OCing your gpu and not your cpu, as your gpu in your system might be the bottleneck when paired with a fast cpu.

Your power is mostly going to come out of said cooling. Getting a board with good VRM is already 70% of the battle on the current breed of Intel Hybrids with how aggressive they boost.

13th gen does 6400 stable at most. Unless you wanna spend an entire day hand tuning in the single changes and hoping you are lucky enough to get it working I'd say leave it as is. 13th gens memory controller isn't good enough

Are you prepared to put the hours necessary into tuning the memory to make sure it works? There are no boards on the market that are reliable to just enable XMP and run DDR5 7600, and the 13th gen memory controller is very temperamental when you're running at speeds above ~6800, even on the good boards.

Besides, 14th gen is releasing in a little over a month and going to have a significantly better memory controller. Given you're going for what feels like a top of the line system, you might as well wait and get a 14900K instead.

New cables are thicker than the supplied ones, so yeah no problem, you really can't mess anything up by using thicker cables, even if you were to mix the old and new cables.

The RMx has a semi-passive fan. At low loads and temperatures it won't spin. It's normal for the fan to stop, especially if you have a very light load like a couple of watts from a few fans on an 850W power supply.

No point in returning stuff before even trying... Note that people are way more likely post to complain when stuff doesnt work then praise when they do work.

But for max performance, 3600MHz CL18 is unimpressive. Unless you're getting that board cheap (it's a Hero (wifi) with waterblock and 5Gbps LAN, yet MSRP is double of the Hero), there should totally be more money going to the memory if not the CPU as well

If you enabled XMP and PC doesn't work, but it does with XMP disabled, it's 99% your CPU can't handle the 3600MHz. It happens very rarely, but since XMP is technically an overclock, it does sometimes. Best you can do in this case is return this RAM if you can (or sell it) and get 3200 CL14 RAM. That's about as fast as it gets without XMP.
