New cables are thicker than the supplied ones, so yeah no problem, you really can't mess anything up by using thicker cables, even if you were to mix the old and new cables.

You will be using a cable extension kit together with new cable kit too ? Why not buy a longer kit to start with ? Cable extensions are very bad idea.

They're extensions.  You can't use the kit "instead" of the included cables.  They will, instead, extend your cables to a whopping two feet long or more.  This is bad on multiple levels.  Added resistance from the added length.  Additional point of potential failure where the stock cable mates with the extension and more cable to hide somewhere in your case.

Instead of getting extensions, why not just get replacement cables for the ones you want to replace?  Extensions just make ZERO sense unless you have a non-modular PSU.
