Oathkeeperspath reacted to Kazi in Folding Community Board
Probably depends on which Sandy bridge chip do you have. But 2600K is able to do it without problems.

Most of my CPU power is 10+ year old server xeons. They're not super speedy, but they work just fine.

As long as you're not turning on the AC, all it does is make your heating system use less energy, so it is a win for science almost for free. 🙂

Woah. Some serious points with this WU.

Oathkeeperspath reacted to peteryle in We built a PC more efficient than a console!
They probably used NVFlash and this BIOS, which they showed in the video
https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/207297/evga-rtx2060-6144-181216
NVFlash can be found here too:
https://www.techpowerup.com/download/nvidia-nvflash/
I don't know if nvidia BIOS flashing is easier than AMD because for AMD, it can depend on the memory brand of the card and also you can risk bricking your card. Do more research before trying

@GabenJr the world awaits the bios flash link.

@GabenJr you mind sharing the link for the Founders bios flash?

Oathkeeperspath reacted to yogotami in Low CPU clock speed even under load
Thanks for your input, I'll try to get a hold on a voltmeter or another power brick to see if anything changes.
For now, buying a new battery is off the table since it's very expensive.
The latest BIOS is the one I mentioned, so there isn't a new version.

Oathkeeperspath got a reaction from CheckTec in PC randomly freezes and restarts, probably a PSU or GPU issue?
Remember power supplies will degrade a little bit over time, and even when new should not be run at the limit of their range, so even if it should be doable you always want to have a bit extra for error between reported output and actual output. Those graphics cards were good but they were power hungry. I've also heard of a similar issue being the result of a bad motherboard but I would test the power supply first by swapping for a more powerful one.

Oathkeeperspath reacted to The_russian in Why is my internet so slow even though its rated for 1 GB
As Alex Atkin mentioned, Steam reports speeds in megabytes per second while internet speed is measured in megabits. A byte is 8 bits so you are getting the expected 80 megabits per second for Steam.

Oathkeeperspath reacted to Dutch_Master in I just bought an old tower and need a new hard drive
What type of connector does the HDD have? Are they small or large with a wide, thin ribbon attached to it? Images would be good indeed.
Also, worth noting that if the machine is older then an Intel Core2 proc, it's not very useful anymore. If the proc is as old as the installed Win-XP suggests, consider a hardware upgrade.

Oathkeeperspath reacted to Shimejii in Adding a 2nd SSD stops a brand new laptop from booting
Its more then likely going into a boot order and causing the issue. Double check the boot order in bios

Oathkeeperspath reacted to Doobeedoo in DRam-less nvme or dram sata
Get the Crucial one. Having DRAM is, crucial, without it on certain workloads SSD can become very slow. For many cases you won't see NVMe benefit for general use.

I would guess 2 5700xt s. The 2080 is better but not a full 2x better I would think. Depends on how F@H scales across multiple GPUs
