DRam-less nvme or dram sata

SkyFire69

Ok so i was just about to buy an ssd for my laptop and i stumbled upon 2 very cheap ssd's from high-name brands ie. WD and Crucial(micron)

Both have 250 GB of capacity.

The WD Blue uses the Nvme interface but does not have a DRam Cache (As per my research)

The crucial MX500 has a DRam cache but uses a sata 3 interface which is obviously slower than nvme.

So which drive would be faster and worth buying?

Thanks

Get the Crucial one. Having DRAM is, crucial, without it on certain workloads SSD can become very slow. For many cases you won't see NVMe benefit for general use.

What he said, plus a Dram-less Ssd can be slower than even an HHD is some situations.

The SN550 is DRAM-less but a fantastic drive, however I would not recommend it at 250GB. DRAM-less for that drive is NOT like a DRAM-less AHCI drive; unfortunately people don't understand the technology very well. It works while being DRAM-less because it uses the more efficient NVMe protocol, has a static-only SLC cache, a powerful controller, and 96L/BiCS4 flash. Unfortunately the cache is very small at 250GB and the dense flash (512Gb) works against it at lower capacities.

At 250GB, yes, got for a SATA drive with DRAM like the MX500.
