ExplorerSergio reacted to Hinjima in Fractal Torrent Compact Top of Case Cord Plug In Spot?
No problem! 🙂 You can find the PDF Manual here on this link for the case if you didnt get one with the case itself.
Easy to understand and read.

That's an rgb header and you need to find a header on your mobo called the 3 pin argb header

ExplorerSergio reacted to Hinjima in Good Price For 4070TI? Prebuild PC
I'd say its a decent price. Most of the time you do pay a slight upcharge on prebuilts.
It has a very good gaming CPU. It has a 240mm AIO that should be enough to cool the CPU. I do hope MSI have fixed the issues regarding their R series of AIO's.. There has been a recall in the tens of thousands and MSI has not done well at all in this matter.
The problem has been with the loop clogging up. Changing the AIO out for something different is actually not a very difficult task if it fails down the line. This PC uses the MAG CORELIQUID 240R V2
A 4070ti is a 4070ti, its a beast of a card.
If you don't want to build a PC yourself then this would be a decent buy.

ExplorerSergio reacted to Kisai in Best Laptop For Travel Streaming
My basic advice here would be not to stream on a laptop due to a huge amount of issues ranging from unreliable temperatures, jet-engine levels of noise, to unreliable wireless connections. An RTX 4070Ti desktop is still more powerful than a RTX 4090 laptop. As it is, good luck finding a 4090 laptop (HP Omen 170ck2000, $4000).
$2700 USD models might be 4070's or 4080 laptop models, but keep in mind these are closer to desktop 4060 in performance.
But generally I'm not excited about gaming laptops and feel that nobody should be streaming on them because the noise will be picked up by the microphone and no amount of noise-reduction will make that an acceptable stream.

Their thickness usually represents it. If it's really thick and heavy, you can count it as a desktop replacement. Also if it has a desktop-class CPU and a high wattage GPU, avoid that if you want a light laptop. There are laptops with 3080s in them that you could get and still not end up with a brick of a laptop

ExplorerSergio reacted to Queen Chrysalis in Price Comparison: DDR4 Now + Upgrading Later vs DDR5 Now
And it's not like RAM speed is where games are getting hung up. By no means should anyone buy DDR3 in 2022, but gaming on it is actually still ok in most cases. And the speed advances from DDR3 to DDR4 were the largest we've seen in modern times. CPUs don't really NEED anything faster yet, and games don't even really need CPUs this fast. They just are because they can be.

ExplorerSergio reacted to Somerandomtechyboi in Price Comparison: DDR4 Now + Upgrading Later vs DDR5 Now
Nah just get ddr4, most ordinary 3200 cl16/3600 cl18 bin performs the same or better than garbage first gen ddr5, not even mentioning ocing rams like ballistix or samsung b die if oced 4500+ will comletely obliterate ddr5
By the time you swap to a ddr5 platform itd prob have matured enough to beat ddr4 in a couple years
Ive seen quite alot of cases where ppl need to go buy new ddr4 cause theyre old 2400 ddr4 isnt cutting it

Check the CPU and the Cooler, especially the thermal paste application and if the cooler is sitting properly.

ExplorerSergio reacted to Zmimgo in I5 12600k Supports 3200mghz ram but i have 3600. Is that okay? Will I have any issues?
That's stock operation. As long as your motherboard allows it, use the XMP profile for higher speeds beyond 3200MHz.

ExplorerSergio reacted to SorryBella in I5 12600k Supports 3200mghz ram but i have 3600. Is that okay? Will I have any issues?
Its honestly gonna be fine, but you might gonna need to toggle the RAM speed manually if the XMP dont work for some reason. Barely an inconvenience.

this is gpu related.
i still strongly advise going nvidia.

ExplorerSergio reacted to eeeee1 in Console Level PC?
what i would do!
wait for the 3070.
if you can, wait for zen 3
if not, grab a ryzen 5 or intel i5-7 10th gen
-
ExplorerSergio reacted to eeeee1 in Console Level PC?
you don't but if the claims hold up, its a fantastic option. 2080 ti price at like 2060 (Super?) price.
people call the ix 9xxx series dead. go 10th gen or amd
for amd, x570, b450 or b550 are your choices
and i dont know for intel

ExplorerSergio reacted to databreach in HDD issue No Media on New Hard Drive
Just return and say it's dead if it's still within the frame of the return period. A USB stick just died on me the same way.

ExplorerSergio reacted to jjbeebe in HDD issue No Media on New Hard Drive
I would try to use hirens boot cd/usb on the computer to see if it comes up under disk management, format if possible in hirens (disk management) then use the installation usb. Can you also provide what hard drive you are using and computer spec?
Hirens

ExplorerSergio reacted to aDoomGuy in Viruses On A Used Computer? Meltdown?
I would wipe all hard drives before I boot if I was worried and then do a full system scan. I would also use common sense when buying the used PC and perhaps not buying it online from some called PrOnlife247 or similar.

ExplorerSergio reacted to AngryBeaver in Viruses On A Used Computer? Meltdown?
In 99.9% of cases yes. Since most malware persistence mechanisms are in your storage drives. Now there are some very rare cases where the persistence mechanism is on the motherboards actual bios, but these are very rare and can still be sorted with a destructive bios update.
Now let's day your machine has multiple drives. A full destructive windows install would be enough. Then once in windows you can format the other drives (or do it while installing windows if you prefer). The reason behind this is if you wipe windows you break the persistence the malware established and the only way for it to restablish itself is by you running it again.

ExplorerSergio reacted to fuzz0r in Viruses On A Used Computer? Meltdown?
No, realistically you wouldn't.
-
ExplorerSergio reacted to OrionFOTL in Viruses On A Used Computer? Meltdown?
Yes, or just use the existing hard drive after wiping it.
-
ExplorerSergio reacted to fuzz0r in Viruses On A Used Computer? Meltdown?
To my knowledge some of the vulnerabilities have been patched so a BIOS update would probably be good.
Just format the PC when you get it, that way no viruses.
-
ExplorerSergio reacted to OrionFOTL in Viruses On A Used Computer? Meltdown?
The first thing to do after buying a used PC is wiping its hard drive. You never even boot into the OS, so you don't need to care about viruses on it.
Spectre and Meltdown are processor hardware faults, and you don't need to care about those since they require targeted attack from somebody with physical access to your computer and necessary knowledge.

ExplorerSergio reacted to Jurrunio in Dumb Tech Questions
Then you're better off with Intel CPUs, unless you dont plan on buying it until about 3 months later when Ryzen 4000 series is widely available on laptops
Price depends, $1000 should be enough if you dont mind a plastic and somewhat thick laptop
-
ExplorerSergio reacted to Jurrunio in Dumb Tech Questions
that only applies to 4000 series Ryzen CPUs, older ones are still inferior if you dont need their iGPU for performance
