misterpumpy got a reaction from Jackaser in You don't get a warrantee because Linus might die at an inconvenient time
All I can say is that Linus would never have bought that response from ANY other company, and I GET that he genuinely believes LMG would take care of the customer, he would NEVER tell consumers to just trust a company to take care of you with nothing in writing to guarantee it. On twitter he posted that they are going to have something by launch, which tells me that the blowback was sufficient to demand change, but his twitter posts were slightly bad faith talking about OCZ lifetime warranty (which would uhhhhh contradict the whole my family on the hook thing, I doubt OCZ family of the board is on hook), and then mentioning that stuff wasn't finalized (paraphrasing)--he said pretty explicitly hey we arent doing warranties and if that bothers you don't buy it. On twitter it's framed like it was a work in progress. Just a poor moment for Linus, but I'm not butthurt. Just want Linus to acknowledge he asked his consumers to do something he would NEVER expect from consumers of other companies when he said that.

misterpumpy got a reaction from Remarkable_Day in How fast is the LTT member's internet connection?
Update: I now have the full Gig connection--I need a WAN/LAN port of more than 1 gig on my router to get above like 940, but here's where I am right now

I loved this tech upgrade for so many reasons—the Starbucks prank feels so old school LTT; she chose parts that felt very measured for her needs and her aesthetics; her place is so nice and oh my gosh I am jealous of how clean it is; I also loved all the cat content.

Just use zome sip ties and make lines of various lengths to hold wires into natural crevasses. It may not be perfect, but start with grouping of 2 or 3 cables, zip them to little rings on the case, pull them straight and look for more anchor points to zip them too. Does that make any sense? It's hard to describe but by continuously just looking for anchor points and ziptying stuff down, you can get everything to at least lay flat and stay put. I have a shitload of cables in the back of mine too, and frankly, the ones with a higher potential to need to be moved are not zipped down, or utilize the velcro strap attached to the case.

misterpumpy got a reaction from Origami Cactus in Corsair not honoring Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro Lifetime Warranty
this is so odd--is there any way you can check the product page for this exact sku for compatibility? Also, check the motherboard you are using--they have a QVL that lists what ram is for sure tested and good to go. I bet your RAM is on there. Armed with that, maybe you can get some movement on your situation.

misterpumpy got a reaction from DJ46 in AL 26.982 alluminium scratch build mod
This is the most impressive and inspiring build log I’ve ever seen. I’m so impressed by the intense step by step that clearly took ages for you to build and get juuuuust right. When you do these complex builds, do you ever get really frustrated? I get exhausted mentally just doing cable management, this would probably be the end of me!

I highly suggest reading into LibreDrive info from MakeMKV. It's a ton of information to unpack, but for ripping blurays, it can't be beat.

You might even find that your current drive can be flashed to enable more functionality. Just look up your exact model number.

misterpumpy got a reaction from Duxa in I need feedback on my pc plan
totally fair--I can understand that. Now that I understand the choice, it makes sense. I personally chose the Trident Z Neo's for my build(s) because of price specifically (really great deal on C16 3600MHz 2x16GB kits at the time at Microcenter) and I luckily found that making the RGB LEDs go to white fit my black and white build perfectly. That said, if I fell in love with the Plats then nothing would stop me lol

misterpumpy reacted to mariushm in Motherboard front panel USB charging power
standard is 5v 0.5A for USB 2.0 , 5v 0.9A for USB 3.0 BUT most motherboards have a limit of around 2A for a group of 2 usb 3 connectors, or a group of 4 usb 2.0 connectors.
So if only one of the two usb connectors on the front panel are used, there's a very good chance you'll be able to take up to 2A of current from it.

Generally it's 5v 0.5a minimum. Worst case just plug it in.

misterpumpy reacted to Falcon1986 in Help upgrading home network (map included, with detailed info)
If you're invested in providing multi-gig speeds in your home and have the budget to do so, then get the multi-gig switch. Switches with 2.5Gbps ports are rare and expensive right now, but you can find used enterprise switches that support 5Gbps or 10Gbps. However, going with the latter requires more homework to ensure that these ports can negotiate at 2.5Gbps.
What I suggested above retains your current layout as per the diagram, but also directly links the home desktop and NAS via their 2.5Gbps ports with Cat6/Cat6a. The direct connection would need to be on its own subnet so that the 2 devices can negotiate transfers between each other. Since they would also be connected to the central switch via their other ethernet connection, they would be able to reach other devices and the WAN via this route. Windows 10/11 should take care of this automatically.

misterpumpy reacted to OddOod in Help upgrading home network (map included, with detailed info)
yeah, Falcon is suggesting grabbing a couple cheap 1gig NICs to connect to the rest of the network but connecting the two systems directly. I'm more in the camp of "the 2.5g are great to have for now and unless you are doing major data transfers frequently, the 2.5 direct connect is just for bragging rights
