Upgrading my network--want to make sure I'm setting things up efficiently.

So I am moving to a new apartment, where we will finally have Fiber internet (I've been on the 200/20 cable struggle for two years now), so I am upgrading my home network, and I want to make sure I am having everything set up in the best way. 
 

As of now, I will have a Frontier Fiber modem/router combo but I will not bother with the router part, as I will connect an Asus Zenwifi ax1800 xd4 mesh system for wifi in the apartment. One of the downsides of the Zenwifi mesh system is a lack of extra ethernet ports, so I purchased a 5 port Netgear gigabit switch (GS105) for more wired connection options.

 

The following devices will be wired: 

Desktop

Hue Bridge

Streaming Device for TV

 

Is the ideal connection setup to go modem>mesh wifi system>switch

or should I connect the modem to the switch then the switch to the mesh wifi system? The goal here is to have the best possible network given the hardware I have.

It needs to go modem > router > switch’s.

 

With that said tho, make sure the modem/router your ISP provides can be bypassed or put into bridge mode. If you can’t turn the routing functions of the provided modem/router off, your likely not going to want to put another router behind that. Doing so would put you in a double NAT situation, which while it will work, can cause fun (not fun…) issues. So I’d just make sure you can put the modem/router into bridge mode.

Thanks for the prompt response. I'll keep the bridge mode issue in mind when getting everything set up!
