That's a halfway decent price for a new 144hz 24" monitor....you could probably shop around or check out best buy specials and find a comparable monitor for $20-$30 cheaper. 

Look on the used market, I've seen similar panels sell for about $100. For a new monitor you aren't gonna do a ton better, but you an usually find someone who upgraded to 4k 144hz trying to flip their old monitor for dirt cheap, just to get it out of the house

It probably refers to Gigabits  ... there's 8 bits in a byte , so you divide by 8.

If you know how to solder you might be able to replace the switch. I replaced several micro switches on Logitech mice so far. It takes 15 to 30 minutes.

yeah true always test them out, i get most my stuff from gumtree making sure it works (then always find a fault so they go cheaper even if it aint that big a fault) and then refurbish it myself

I'll have to see what I.T has planned. It probably wouldn't be comfortable to me because a lot our work is done using software that requires me to have several windows open, we have a dual monitor setup at work. 

mobile work setups tend to be pretty sub optimal, depending what you're expecting to need there may be a few options available to you. If you don't need much hardware grunt like you suggest that helps keep the costs down in the event you get stuck paying for something, plenty of affordable portable options in the lower spec end in terms of laptops and computers such as the NUC. If you end up buying monitors they could cost almost as much as or more than the fairly basic computer you will require from the sounds of things

You could just move the keys over and use the second X in place of the B if you don't want to return it, but I would return it. 
Quality control must have been off sick the day that keyboard went out. If they let that obvious mistake slip through I don't have much faith in it lasting very long. What brand is it?

Depends what router you have. If it's some basic one, then it might be harder task. But if it's like those Asus Gaming routers, everything has wizard and you can set access for each device.

Shutdown has parameter "t" for time. Simple bat file should do the trick.

Set schedule from router settings to throttle connection at night time.

There are also Browser plugins to force YT to a specific resolution so you don't "Auto" waste data on 1080p-1440p-4K videos.

I believe the kvm actually has it's own onboard controller which detects keyboards and mice. and that controller is very simplistic. It needs that controller to detect when you key in the commands to switch machines.

what you most likely wanted was a very basic passive usb switch so the computer would control the keyboards and mice instead.

At any rate if you’re willing to hunt down and deal with weird issues from that hp perhaps a cpu upgrade might work for certain definitions of work.  What I remember about prebuilt (and this is a slightly newer vintage than what I was used to so it might have gotten better or not) was they sized their very proprietary PSUs to be no more capable than absolutely necessary. There will be no slop for things that are “only a bit higher wattage”. The g640 according to intel is a 65w chip.
 
do not run any higher wattage than this.   Also I’m having trouble telling if it was sandy bridge or ivy bridge. (It seems to be 2012). If it’s sandy look only at sandy.  If it’s ivy look only at ivy.  You in theory can bios upgrade to the other.  Do not do this.  That bios is very possibly tweaked by HP.

Windows 10 is still taking win7 keys?!  I thought they stopped that years ago.  If they still do it’s a good buy by itself.
 
i advise against cpu replacement for the single reason that the thing is a turn of the millennium hp prebuilt mini.
 
 prebuilts are evil and prebuilt minis are worse.  The only thing that might make it possibly even worse is if it was a dell prebuilt mini.  On a scale of 1 to 10 it’s a 2.  They leave important parts off those things.  Hp wasn’t quite as bad about it as dell but they did it too.  

It’s going to be hell to even do, and if it does work the chances that it will suddenly sprout weird unexplainable problems is high.

I would not recommend it unless you could put a better cpu in there. You could use the windows 7 key on that board for windows 10. The video can be upgraded, and im sure you could cram a little bit more ram in there.  Ssd would be nice. That chipset can be slow to boot a windows 10 usb. Depends on the board.  Once you get thru that everything is fine. Windows updates is real reason of ryzen.

I mostly see stuff like this for repairs. People as a whole don't have nice computers. Just the likes of us, and i only buy used parts so im even out of date.   You're off by at least 10 years on the prebuilt. Think 2010. Windows 10 will probably always accept windows 7 keys.  Black market keys are probably sometimes forgotten windows 7 that werent activated. I promise if you can wait thru the possible 30 min windows 10 boot dilema on old boards you can have a nice computer for a couple of bucks. Dual core can be tough now days though. You'd be shocked what enough ram and a decent gpu can do on an old cpu.

Throw linux on it, run pihole and plex.
